Not here to QQ but to state why I’m taking a break and what I’m hoping Blizz does for 8.2 since it really seems 6 months away or even more ;/
Allied races - This has been disappointing to say the least. In an expansion based on costumization we have gotten tid bits of things. Like an appetizer to a full meal and yet the expansion is getting close to midway. This is way too important for me. We still got 4 female tauren faces to say a bad example. I mean come on now. Every expansion should expand every race ten fold. We still have the same voices (>___>). GFiving us zandalari and kultiran so late has definitely burned me out a lot from even trying them whenever they do.
world quests and incursions. They really need to improve. Guildwars 2 does everything this does but better in terms of engagement. It’s something that would make wow so awesome play if it played right. We still need add ons to make it viable and bearable to play around in. This should be a thing that parties us on the zone to participate in X thing happening there. This has so much potential that I hope it grows with BFA.
Warfronts - Honestly they just suck. I dont even know if their story has a purpose or it’s just gameplay to acquire gear. I think that if we made these events give us certain pieces of gear ( transmog wise) to choose from. Like hearthstone cards and the warfronts had 3 different separate lore events to play in. They would be more than viable for me to enjoy them. Atm the storyplot is just ok and understandable but it really needs a conclusion.
class gameplay- This has been the hardest for me. Legion gave us a buff to our gameplay via weapons and it made a lot of specs fun for me while others stayed somewhat stale because of their talents. I’m really hoping 8.2 does wonders and removes the necklace entirely since it’s really affected the replayability in a negative way. I haven’t had fun with any azerite piece thing because they are just set bonuses. Also ignoring enhancement shamans and giving them stat buffs really got me mad with the devs. There was no excuse for that this time around. The next expansion HAS to be a class overhaul like legion was. hopfully no more talent trees and we get old school talent trees. This will definitely free up the space for you guys to do the argus talents again. A lot of classes suffer from lack of X thing because it’s hiding in X talent you didn’t or can’t pick with X talent. It needs to go. Every expansion has gotten simplified instead of enhanced. Legion was the exception. Lets go back to that!
TLDR : burned out with the state of BFA and hope 8.2 does a 180.
You say ‘allied races’ are the problem here, but really what the problem you seem to have isn’t with the allied races themselves but with the customization options they have.
Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have ‘incursions’ nor does it have ‘world quests’ or any systems similar to them. I love Guild Wars 2, don’t get me wrong it’s a fantastic game, but in regards to end-game content outside of instanced content your options are to do bosses which have one appear every 15 minutes or so OR you can go to the same spot in the same zone and grind out repeatable hearts/do zone events for a bit of silver and karma, nothing to write home about.
You want a story conclusion to the war half-way through said war? The Warfronts exist as focuses for where the factions are fighting outside of Kul Tiras and Zandalar, you won’t get a conclusion for a while yet.
Honestly the fact that you’re bailing after 8.1 added a ton of content and things to do, with 8.1.5 adding even more content tells me that it doesn’t matter what 8.2 adds to the game, it won’t be good enough for you.
It’s too bad arenanet couldn’t figure out if myself or the hacker were the legitimate owner of my GW2 account, and so permabanned it and told me to buy a new one and start from scratch… but yeah, GW2 was great fun during that first year.
A bunch of people like them apparently, I don’t, but I’ve no problem with them so long as many people find them enjoyable. What I dislike is how they’ll probably become obsolete or be removed within 1-3 years.
It’s been various styles of bad for a very long time. I didn’t particularly enjoy the legion artifact leveling because (I guess) it didn’t really feel like it added anything in the way of playstyle customization (azerite traits does a better job of achieving this, but isn’t perfect and a lot of people dislike it, which is fine).
I hope to see more rewards from rep, or something similar in the future; I’m mostly content with the current state of the game for now. It’s the PvE players who need the most love atm I think.
I too will take a break until 8.2. Still have to see how much 8.2 will be gated…
For me the main disappointment is the lack of a meaningful gear progression system outside raiding. We will see if 8.2 proposes something.
I know a lot of people who quit, or waiting for next expansion, all I can say is take it easy and relax this expansion has been a huge dissapointment ive never really seen this many people upset with an expansion.
Even WoD didn’t have this much backlash, my problem is, it’s too similar to Legion, so people already over the grind and Mythic + and all, cause they been their and done that already, BFA really hasn’t brought nothing to the table that Legion hadn’t already.
Everything is gated, the selling point of playable Kul’tirans and Zandalari still hasn’t been unlocked… lore is all over the place lol
BFA really hasn’t brought anything MEANINGFUL to the table that Legion hadn’t already. Warfonts and expeditions are the only things I think. I haven’t done expeditions because of lack of interest and warfronts are a joke (love the idea dont love the follow through).
