Take/Lose a feature

If there was one thing (Feature, Ability, NPC, anything) from a past Xpac that was removed that you could get back, what would it be?

Similarly, if there was one thing you could prevent from getting into SL?

Bring back: Tabard rep for dungeons but lock them to mythic+ if you want.

I ran so many chain heroics in Wrath, later with the DF just because of those stupid tabards. I feel like that’s the ideal type of gating, where you actively see a return, even if it’s a small return.

Remove: Follower combat systems.

They have improved it since WOD, but I still dislike it.

Honorable mention for bring back: Holy Radiance. I know HPally’s did it to ourselves by taking the blue buff on Ultraxion and spamming it, but boy did I love that heal.

ADD: M0 queue through LFD. I don’t see the harm in it for the folks that want a little extra challenge but can’t get groups organized.

REMOVE: Systems in place that have potential to be great, but no resources to be developed by the team. Case in point… mount equipment. It could have been a cool feature. Now it’s an unnecessary nuisance. It kind of didn’t need to happen at all.

Abilities: I’ve lamented Divine Intervention leaving the game since it did.

Add: Guild/player housing

Remove: All Pvp… or Raiding. Either one. I can’t choose.

Bring Back: Unique dungeon interactions, like rogues solo-farming Barman’s Shanker in BRD due to wep speed interactions w/ dmg output OR Resilience

Remove: Unnecessary behavioral economics based on blanket Raid incentivization > all other content [link to full notes]

Remove Battle Pets

Bring in Player Housing

You could use pets before and they were collectable. They added another mini-game to the game.

ok, so I’m probably one of the few people that think this, but I absolutely hate current itemization.

stamina
primary
secondary 1
secondary 2

it feels so boring.

so I guess the feature I’d bring back is variance in gear or older style itemization, if that makes any sense.

I’d probably remove holy power, I can’t stand builder spender specs, it’s so boring, I want a rotation I need to actually think about and know what button to press next.

Take:
Defile ability from Lich King encounter and give it to every NPC.

Remove:
Instance/world server boundaries.

Remove: AP, because the prestige meter thing is dull
Return: gold missions, so normal people can have an income beyond farming old raids

Yessss I miss this so much. I remember how there weren’t nearly as many timegates in WoTLK and the only real “timegates” were how long you could stand to play the game. I’d spend hours running heroics with tabards to get raid-ready gear with both rep and dungeon drops… ah, the days. I wish the gearing system still worked like that.

Anyway…

Bring back talent trees. I know that not everyone liked them and they had their own issues, but the current talent system is so bland and locked-in, especially with how the “rows” work and how there’s such a strange placement of abilities. You mean I choose between the only speed utility Locks have or two valuable survivability talents? sigh

Take out borrowed power systems. Spending two years putting a ton of power into a system and building my class and playstyle around it, only to have it swiped out under me come next prepatch, is such a let-down. cough Covenant Power cough
