at first I didn’t agree with having them go past normal, but I could see your idea possibly working. maybe not all the way up but a few levels
Yeah most groups aren’t sociable. I get chatty in LFR or even random dungeons and almost no one talks at all. Perhaps typing these days is frowned on despite everyone being a speed typer on their cell phones and texting 5 billion times a day.
Now pvp on the other hand in randoms can get more fun and more chatty. Those people aren’t afraid to chat it up!
Kind of sucks cause you’d think an mmo is where people would socialize more but nope, so what’s the difference when playing with AI followers? Perhaps time will change tho.
It would be nice if we could choose our followers and or gear them up. Or use our alts as our followers.
Don’t want other people to get rewards because you had to “work” for them?
It’s the same stupid argument for nearly 20 years. If your fun is ruined because others in the game are having fun a different way, look inward, and ask yourself why you feel that way. Is it because you want to be seen as elite and lord that over “casuals?” That’s usually been the reason - to flex the e-peen.
Touch grass.
Very cool, I can’t wait till you guys are able to add this sort of feature to mythic plus dungeons and raids!
It doesn’t have anything to do with how they got their gear or what gear they have. Currently, even casuals who don’t do M+ or raid can get 476 gear— but they still have to do group content, which is part of the design of end game in MMORPGs.
Kiper’s point is that turning all of end game into solo mode isn’t the philosophy of MMORPGs— or story mode dungeons.
I’d be more apt to tell you this, you’re the one wanting to play an mmorpg by yourself with bots instead of playing with real people. lol
for some reason this is a hard concept for many forum dwellers to understand.
This game is barely an MMORPG anymore. That ship sailed over a decade ago.
What genre of game is it then?
This game, in fact, is an mmorpg. I know it’s a hard pill to swallow but it’s also one of the top mmorpg’s and has been for 20 years.
That doesn’t make any sense. If I want to play an “mmorpg” (which this game barely qualifies for anymore), it’s because I want to play casually and touch grass.
It’s its own thing at this point. It’s a phased world, and people barely interact with each other anymore, unless it’s within a guild. There is no world PVP, there is no community, and there is tons of foul language…everywhere.
This is a game where you can see other people’s avatars, but the community has gone downhill so much, this has largely turned into a solo game.
How is this game not an MMORPG? I’m not following this at all.
Let’s take a look at what some university websites explain about some of the characteristics that make up an MMORPG and check them off if they apply to WoW.
- persistent game environment.

- some form of level progression.

- social interaction within the game.

- in-game culture.

- membership in a group.

- character customization.

I did a bold/italicize on the important one here to our conversation. But WoW fits all of those characteristics, because all of that is part of the philosophy and make up of the game.
What doesn’t make any sense is this asinine statement.
I know players who do nothing but world content and nonsense like LFR but no life this game, I also know players who are mythic raiders and push wildly high keys but invest only a handful of hours into this game per week.
No, it’s an mmorpg.
OK fine, you win.
Nevertheless, the game has changed so much, it’s a shell of what it once was.
Social interaction? grouping for casuals sucks because of the constant criticism, bad language, vote-kicking, and other toxic behaviors people complain about may be interaction, but its decidedly negative.
That’s great. Anecdotes. Wonderful.
You threw the touch grass back at me, and I gave you my reasons why I feel the way I do. I don’t give a single flying ____ what the people you associate with do.
I have something like 38 alts. I think. I lost track. I have leveled them all through lowbie dungeons and Timewalking since LFD became a thing and since Timewalking became a thing.
The amount of times I’ve run into this is very rare. The amount of people I’ve heard complain about this across three servers is none. The only place I’ve heard people try to claim this is some huge problem is here on the forums— which is roughly 1% of the playerbase, according to blue posts.
We haven’t seen major complaints constantly in the CS forums about this. We haven’t seen a trend of this on Twitter wanting it addressed, etc.
This is not a systemic problem. Most groups are just there to get their stuff done and don’t talk at all. Criticism is not a consistent thing and most complaints of this are from people annoyed that people are bricking keys.
Then what you need is a community/guild/static group/WoW Made Easy. Not to make the game solo.
It’s no wonder you play alone, most people wouldn’t want the company of you given how you interact with people.
I play alone because I don’t want to subject myself to social stress playing a game. I did an LFR yesterday. Raid chat was filled with nothing but insulting the group. I don’t want the company of them.
Do you feel threatened by solo content or something? Why can’t it be both?
Then try running with friends/guilds/WoW Made Easy/communities/Discords.
The game is much more than being grumpy at randoms.
sighs
You keep trying to gaslight people with this sort of thing. First it was “no one can have good gear, because you worked for it” and now it’s “you must be threatened.”
This is now a circular conversation and I’m going to just re-post what I said before and be done with this.
