Take down RDF or remove the “deserter debuff” on classic cata

Edit: please read carefully through all of them!! I also explained the mechanic in this list so yes I did know what I was doing.

You know I was really happy cause I think I misunderstood what the deserter debuff actually meant for.

For awhile I thought if someone left in mid dungeon they get the debuff nope! It only toward people kicking other peoples preventing them progressing getting gear.

Context: I was with a dungeon with a tank and doing one of the inferno dungeon and I guess I wasn’t doing as much damages but I was actually doing the mechanic.

It the one where there 3 acolyte with a laser beam and one of the 3 player get in the laser and absorb the laser and reset.

Now the tank kick me cause “I wasn’t doing enough damages and not doing the mechanic”. Like dude I was next you and you knew you saw me doing that and the reason I got transform cause no one was taking it for me since my debuff wasn’t reset….

Context 2: so he was giving me a silence treatment cause he knew I was in the right and he was in the wrong. Why have the deserter debuff if we can’t progress for fireland??

Is it possible if I can just paid someone gold for the crown of twilight queen so I can get this over with?? I don’t want to run a dungeon and getting booted every 30 min just to get the gear just to do firelands…

So, you’re wrong and crying.
That mechanic is fully doable with 1 person on each laser. You let it stack to ~80 then let the ad take the laser until it falls off of you, then you step back in.
They were right to kick you, you don’t know what you’re doing.

These dungeons are about as close to raiding as you’ll get, you clearly have an ego AND don’t know mechanics, who in the H*** is going to take you into Firelands with that attitude?

if you last 15 minutes in the dungeon and get kicked you wont get a debuff. The system works the same way as if someone was being kicked or you leave yourself before 15 minute cooldown is over.

Well that isnt doing the mechanic you messed up the mechcanic you can allow the add to take the beam until your debuff falls off then resoak again.

Actually you where wrong see above statement.

You know if you actually raided for the last 6 months you wouldnt be in this sitation right? Cry about getting kicked because you do horrible damage and mess up the mechcanics then argue about the tank being in the wrong but clearly you where in the wrong and you got kicked seems justified to me. I would have kicked you for doing horrible damage.

Why didn’t you step out of the beam before hitting max stacks? Just stepping out would’ve bought you some time for someone else to step in. That’s why they were mad.

The guy said he was doing the mechcanics but he didnt do them properly!!! Then he got angry and fought with the tank then wondered why he was kicked. The bad DPS would have been more then enough reason for me to kick him.

So what you are trying to say is, you weren’t kicked for low dps, you were kicked for doing the mechanics wrong?

You don’t swap with another player.

Why do people think this is how the mechanic is meant to be done. No… you don’t wait for someone else to step in, you let the mob get stacks until yours drop off. If we had to swap with another player it would be an impossible mechanic since theres 3 beams and only 5 players.

Gonna play devil’s advocate here… yes, the guy screwed up on the mechanic. But, if he was doing that little DPS up to that point, anyone with half a brain cell would know that a brief moment taken to make sure the group knew what they were doing would go a lot faster than a wipe and a second shot at it. I ask when I tank that boss who is taking which position, and state that it’s stack to 80, get out, get back in as soon as the debuff falls off. If it’s all melee, I ask the healer to take the left one, and two of the melee to take the others. Then I can tank her between the melee to let them both pump. That fight justifies taking a second to clarify, and the go fast go hard tank is as much to blame for the fail as the person he voted to kick. I’d have probably voted to kick the incompetent tank, too.

people are SUPER quick to just hit yes on a kick. Like this dude went on a rampage and kicked 3 people in the group I didn’t even hit anything because i was just confused on what he was doing. Later he said it was an accident. yeah sure bro. I’m sure it was an accident 3 times. Keep in mind this guy was 375 ilvl mage doing 13k dps and failing mechanics on basically every boss in BRC

I literally said the same thing as you said on the first part

No… no you didn’t, you hit 100 stacks and tried to blame the other players. You decided to stay in the beam instead of moving out of it.

I love that he tried to come back and edit the post to completely change what he said… even though the original statement is quoted directly 3 times in the replies.

TLDR Version.

  1. Under geared
  2. under preforming
  3. Doesnt know the mechcanics
  4. Fights with the other players in the group
  5. Makes a post crying about it trying to blame others for their own mistakes.

No I didn’t I literally know the mechanic. You’re just putting word in my mouth without reading the full story of my post.

Then why were you expecting another player to jump into the beam if your stacks hadn’t dropped off yet. You just let the npc get stacks while you wait for yours to drop off.

If your stacks haven’t dropped off and the npc or yourself transforms then you messed up. You clearly don’t know the mechanic since you seem to think another player needs to take the beam when you can just let it hit the npc until yours drop off.

If you did the mechanic well you can easily solo one of the beam nobody need to take it for you, you just need to get off the beam when you are at like 80-90 and your debuff will be gone before the monster transform, I never had an issue when doing this.

On that boss DPS is important since for some reason people get nervous and make mistake the more the fight goes on at least its what I notice, its probably the hardest boss among every single Inferno bosses with ease because of that beam mechanic.

You must be doing something seriously wrong to get kicked that much, in 40+ inferno dungeons I did, I saw maybe three people get kick in total two was because they were AFK and the last one was because his DPS was sub 4K.which is ridiculously low.

Same for my friends when I ask they barely ever saw people get kicked.

So unless your DPS is really low or you are clowning around it make no sense.

This does not look like you know the mechanic this looks like you thought you knew the mechanic but clearly didn’t as the adds can take some of the stack while yours falls then you jump back in.

Look, this is what I do. I tank and take the middle beam. I /focus the acolyte I’m sharing the beam with.
This lets me see the stacks on the acolyte and whether they have dropped off them.
You really don’t need to do this since they flash when their stacks are high, but maybe it will help OP.
There’s enough slack time where you don’t have to be super precise about timing. Just don’t accidently get back into the beam when you are trying to get rid of your stacks, because that will lead to one of you transforming unless the 2 free people not needing to do the beam steps in.
This mechanic isn’t even moderately challenging. blizz could have could have pulled a Miyazaki and made 5 (or more) beams and made the stacks build up faster, requiring precise timing.
