Taiwan is way more important for PCS than people think

If china bombed them and took over the island and stopped manufacturing i fear getting a new GPU would be much more difficult.

My dad and brother both work in the semi-conductor industry or ( chip ) industry and their company says for the US to be self ( substainable ) …i think thats the right word …their company has to double in growth…Company name is ASML.

( i aint that smart and get random info from my dad and brother so bare with me lol )…

Just crazy to think of how the industry relies so heavily on taiwan and taiwan is in a bit of a situation currently.

But hey atleast this whole situation will help in the long run i hope…Less exporting goods, more home made items, maybe price reduction in the future…

One good thing though if you or your kids are looking for a good job, i’d suggest looking for one in this industry , its looking pretty solid for the next 50+ years…

Cheers, to my random thread.

All the political conflict going on about Taiwan concerns me as well.

TSMC is the big Taiwanese dog providing the majority of the wafers to semiconductor companies like AMD, Apple, Broadcom (known for making the CPU in networking devices), Nvidia, and Qualcomm.

I remember reading an article somewhere that the U.S. had tried to get TSMC to get another facility built here but refused concerning that the country will just milk them for military application.

Don’t know what you read but ALL the sweat shops are in China… that’s why Tesla is moving there and Apple assembles their iPhones there. Taiwan is NOT a concern at all…

TSMC is investing tens and tens and tens of billions into opening multiple facilities in the U.S. and will be working more closely with the U.S. Department of Defense.

A change of mind… that’s actually great to hear. :+1:

I think Taiwan can guarantee no one will ever invade them if they just wire their chip factories to self-destruct when the invasion starts.
