Tailors, Please Read

On my server, runecloth bags(14 slot) are selling for 5 gold. Now, mageweave bags(12 slot) are selling for 2 gold so it may seem that the price of runecloth bags is in the right price range. But consider that the runecloth bag is the best bag that most players will be able to buy, its also the best bag you can make and sell efficiently. We could easily make the price of these bags 20 gold, since you only need to buy 4 and then you’re basically set. Tailoring isn’t a great way to make money, why would we sell one of the most popular things we make that people are willing to spend money on for a cheap price? We can determine the price.

Good ol’ collusion

Real tailors are only using it for set bonus on bloodvine. Bring the market up and it’ll just get repeatedly tanked as new people level tailoring for the bonus. GL making much off bags since you’re half a year late.

Bags are part of the leveling microeconomy which is nonstop. I’m using their mats to make their bags, its not a ton of money, but its all about the prices to make it worth it. If, in order to get an alt full bags you had to pay about 60-80 gold it would be better for everyone.

Collision and market fixing can work when the number of suppliers is low, but we’re talking Runecloth Bags. If you want to level tailoring and make some money back from cost that’s exactly what you make like 50 of.

The recipe isn’t hard to get.

Better for you not everyone. Market dictates what they’re worth. They’re not worth 20g. Economics 101

When I can just hand a guildie the mats? I think not.

Either you’re a boring troll or you need to go open a book or two. Either way take it from everyone so far in the thread, it’s not happening. Many tailors don’t pick it up to make money, they do it as part of min/maxing their game play. I can make far more money killing a couple mobs than sitting around trying to sell crafted items.

Find a better way.

You actually couldn’t. As soon as you got your price fixing cartel together, people would start buying the cloth and simply asking a guildy to make them some bags. If someone like me was on your server, I would either get a guildy or level tailoring myself and start wrecking your price fixing scheme.

If you want to price fix, at least go after something that is rare. Something you can control. If you target something that is as common as dirt you will fail every time.

Between microeconomics and game theory I honestly don’t know which would kill OP’s cartel more quickly.

Just because you can do something, doesnt mean you should.

I mean, a greedy market is a bit of the downfall of retail, no? I like that the classic market is much more affordable. I don’t feel so incompetent with my brain injury’s challenges in this market where there is consideration for others’ virtual situations, financial and otherwise.

Certainly, there are a fair share of unreasonably high auctions, but I’m so happy that in my classic characters’ current levels (between 1 and 11), gear prices are very affordable.

I feel like the classic Azeroth community values people and their experiences over financial gain, and it’s really nice, because that certainly isn’t reliably happening outside of classic Azeroth right now.

Too many players in this game don’t understand supply and demand.

I paid 20G each for my Traveler’s Backpacks, why would I pay 20 for runecloth bags?

lmfao.

This is incorrect. Your logic is fine, but it is based on incorrect assumptions. It’s those assumptions that always mess up a logical argument.

This is true: ONCE you are level 60, 80 gold is affordable. But mooncloth bags (16 slots) only cost about 20-25 gold. So a level 60 would rather buy those.

Meanwhile a WHOLE LOT of players want a decent bag BEFORE they hit 60, and are cost-conscious. At level 5 they won’t pay 2g. Eventually they will pay 2g but not 5g. A few levels higher they will pay 5g but not 20g.

Me? I have a tailor. Every 4 days I can make mooncloth for a couple gold. A couple more gold for the runecloth, and I have a 16-slot bag. So I don’t really care what you charge.

No tailor is making money off runecloth bags. Good luck trying to take over that market though. Just sell your mooncloth cooldown and depend on your 2nd profession to make any gold at all. Bags aren’t a good source of income

Runecloth bags are 2.5G on Atiesh. I don’t even pay for them for guildies. I spend enough time farming Argent Dawn rep in WPL that at the end of the week I often have about 30 stacks of runecloth on my bank alt that I send to a guildie tailor. She makes bags, gives them to people that need and sends me the rest. I prob still have about a dozen in my mail than no one has needed lately.

Bags are an easy item to craft, and everyone gets loads of runecloth grinding or farming EPL. Supply and Demand. Economics 101.

Only way to artificially raise the price is to try and create a tailor’s cartel server wide. Good luck with that, lol.
