Frilled Lichen Is Making Tailoring Too Expensive
Frilled Lichen is currently too rare for how much Tailoring depends on Cerulean Dye. With 2 Lichen required per dyeand multiple dyes required for many recipes, the cost quickly makes leveling Tailoring gear not worth crafting.
I like the cross-profession dependency, but either Frilled Lichen needs a higher drop rate or Cerulean Dye needs a lower material requirement.
Right now Tailoring feels significantly more expensive and less viable than the other crafting professions.

agree’d, bump
its the Cerulean Dye its self that’s creating a gap in professions, its materials are rare causing its price to be incredibly high creating a cut off for proffessions

I mean…perhaps every single cloth class should stop stickinh to tailoring/chanting.
Branch out.

Is the dye required to craft the gear needed to level it?
its not tailoring and enchanting causing Cerulean dye to be very high…

only focusing on level 60 isn’t the goal of wow forever. its the journey to get there. therefor this issue is far out of line of the main goal

Why wouldn’t every cloth class be Tailoring? That’s even how it was in classic because of the max level robes. The real question is why does tailoring need extremely rare stuff from other professions to make their gear? I got everything I needed to make my helmet on my LWing by skinning and finding getting a few gems. The Tailoring helms also need silk BEFORE you can even craft silk bolts.

No, its required for the better blue items…meaning they are an opportunity cost, which is fine.
You do NOT need dye to level Tailoring.

The problem is that all professions are too expensive with a fresh launch. There are so many things we need gold for - spells and abilities, bags, gear, recipes, and eventually mounts. I’ve been trying new characters with blacksmithing, but it is similarly too hard to level when you don’t have a main character with a bunch of gold to share. I’m thinking now that double gathering is going to be the way to go first up!
you do understand this is about the journey right? cerulean dye is upward of 2.5 gold - 5 gold each while enchanting and tailoring got nerfed to hell and not able to make any profits between 1-20 meanwhile alchemists get cerulean dye at skill 50 thats worth worlds more creating a massive gap in proffessions. i mean enchanting/tailoring were balanced till the vender sell price nerfs that cuase that portion of the market to crash entirely

again this isn’t about a race to end game. currently as it sits, you can’t even afford to buy mats at all anymore as an enchanter/tailor. you have to spend hours and hours between 1-20 farming wool to skill because there is not way to make profits to fund it. meanwhile leatherworking can just skin, blacksmiths can just mine, alchemists can pick herbs and all of them can sell there stuff to venders for normal sell prices, meanwhile tailoring and enchating 1 copper sell price and only 1 outlet for magic essense after you done using it and its deletion becuase there is no value in the mats and you can’t vender them and enchanting mats can’t be vendered

Who’s racing?
I have 10 gold on my paladin, who I have bought all my moves with, and been leveling up blacksmithing. If I want to take my time, or pop on a alt, to get the mats needed, I can do so, whos rushing you that you cant go farm up some gold?
Plus, we can allocate legacy points to increase the scarce materials.

And what does that have to do with anything here? We’re talking about gear used during the journey, ie leveling gear for low level professions, that cost 2-3 gold and can’t be made by the crafter unlike every other profession’s self crafted gear. Funny enough, the exception is actually enchanting which needs a BS to make the later rods.

I’m sorry but this is absurd. I have leveled a tailoring toon without using a single cerulean dye. You have orange recipes all the way to 225 that don’t require it.
If you want the insane, sexy blues that will let you skip dungeons (or replace dungeon drops that you don’t feel like farming for) then yes, you will need to pay for the dye. If you want to level tailoring, you can do that without touching dye.

If you pick herbalism and alchemy, you do not get access to the best gear for your class. Instead you can sell elixirs, potions, and dye and make money. If you pick tailoring or leatherworking, you will have the best gear but less money.
It’s not an easy decision but I don’t see any problem with being forced to make a tough decision. They both have significant upsides. That’s a good thing.

Fair, I did stop after you said race again.
Enchanting and Tailoring have never been cheap. Cloth is a restriction as you have pointed out. Most people wait til they are higher level or bite the bullet.
Plus I would argue that I could farm comprable amounts of cloth as one could herbs or mine, since I can post up in a spot versus running around hoping to get lucky.
