So I have noticed that I am not getting any skill increase in the crafts of Spellthread or Polishing Cloth. Both have the exact same skill value, but my polishing cloth is maxxed out, while my spellthread is only 20 points in.
Now get this, the specializations themselves say “Gain +1 skill per point in this specialization.”
Normally this would mean my skill bonus for any craft, wouldnt it? Because if you go over to the dawnthread side of things, you can see that it says “Unravel thread imbued with Dawn’s light in your tailoring, gaining +1 +skill Crafting Skill per point in this specialization when making and using dawnweave.” (idk why its messed up but this is another failure of the devs to deal with. This is not my mistake.)
So im not getting overall skill increase, im not getting specialized skill increase in crafting polishing cloth/spellthread, so where the fly F are my skill points going?
The +1 skill is dynamic and is not visibly applied to your displayed skill level. It’s incorporated into the calculation that determines the final quality of the item being produced, but that calculation is not visible.
I sat there and closely looked at the moused over value of the skill required and current skill. It did not go up when putting points in. So unless there is a 3rd layer of randomness going on here i dont know what you mean.
I would also like to note that I have never, ever seen a craft not craft the quality declared by the outcome already. So it does not make sense for there to be a hidden skill bonus.
It depends where you are putting the KP in the tree.
The only thing that will give you points in everything is your overall skill and a tree that says that it increases the skill level of all Tailoring crafts.
that still does not address my issue. The points being put towards Spellthread and polishing cloth are not being added. I have the same skill value for making polishing cloth that is maxxed out as I do to make spellthread when spellthread is only at 20. if each point only gives skill for spellthread or polish then those numbers should be vastly different. yet they are the same.
I can’t really address it right now because I can’t log into the game. But one point doesn’t always equal one point because there are nodes every 5 points that give different bonuses.
I think that’s your problem. That’s for the quality of the fabric. So it increases the quality of your drops, one of the sub nodes increase your unravelling and I can’t remember what the last node does.
No you are only right about the unraveling. the other two are polishing cloth specialization and spellthread specialization. Go. Look. It makes zero sense for me to not be gaining skill from them.
Because again I also said that when i put points into spellthread, im not gaining any extra points towards it when i go to craft it. That skill value is the exact same as the one that I have for my full 30 points invested in polishing cloth.
In spite of the ambiguous wording, I’m pretty sure those +1 skill points only apply to crafting items within that part of the specialization tree, not “all tailoring crafting regardless”. So the Spellthread bonus would apply to producing Spellthread, and the Unravelling skill bonus would apply to Unraveling or Weaving cloth.
You’re trying to win an argument I dont know why. The guides I have seen are all guides on where to throw your points. I have not seen anything that tells you why the nodes that are supposed to give skill bonuses are not actually giving skill bonuses to anything.
I have explained repeatedly what my problem is. The. Numbers. Dont. Move. On. Any. Craft. When. I. Spend. The. Points. In. These. Nodes.
I have been told that these are hidden bonuses when we all know that crafting always crafts the quality that is shown and if you mouse over your current skill for a craft it shows the bonus you are applying for that craft.
The problem here is that these numbers do not change when I put points in. I then noticed that not only is it not changing, there is no difference in the skill value between my crafting for a full 30 max points in polishing cloth and 20 points in spellthread. Both crafts have the same skill value, and this makes no sense.
All you have said is that im not understanding when clearly there is something more to whats going on here. Unless you are also calling me a liar.
Probably because you aren’t explaining where you are putting your KP properly. You said Quality Fabric. That specific node increases the quality of the cloth drops you get.
If you are saying that you put points in the Spellthread subnode and it didn’t increase your skill when crafting spellthread then you should start a thread on the Bug Report forums.
