I’ve heard two things… Robe of the Void is BiS, and you should make it, then drop tailoring. But then I’ve also heard you should keep tailoring for zul’gurub, because apparently you get some bonuses if you have tailoring.
What’s true here?
Rove of the Void is BiS right now, but for sure you’re going to need tailoring for Bloodvine. Locks have no +Spell Hit on their own, so Bloodvine is essential until AQ40.
I feel like Felheart is better for the hit %. Warlocks are in dire need of it, and that provides it. For everything outside of raiding I’d go with RotV though. A quick glance at the guide suggests for raw power the robe off Domo (Volatile Power) is best outside of Felheart for the spell hit.
As you said, Bloodvine will be crucial once ZG hits. So yes, I’d say Tailoring is extremely beneficial. Though oddly enough, you can drop Tailoring once you get RotV so long as you don’t mind re-leveling it for ZG.

I couldn’t for the life of me remember this robes name, but I feel it’s definitely a solid alternative. It’s probably about the same DPS overall (I think for Locks 1% crit is equal to 11ish SP).
You do not, but it helps most liekly because of the 2% IIRC from bloodvine late game in ZG due to the set bonus only working for tailors.
But honestly, it’s not worth it unless you’re .01% mix maxer. Free country do what you want bud.
robe of the void isnt worth making. there is a blue crafted robe (robe of winter night) that is nearly identical to it for about 1/4 the mats. if you arent planning on keeping tailoring, there is no real reason to level it as a warlock.
mages and priests are different though because their tailoring chestpieces that are bop crafted last a significant amount of time. priests until aq40 and mages until zg.
oh and for the bloodvine set from zg, its only a passive 2% spell crit if you are wearing all 3 pieces and have 300 tailoring. its not really required but it doesnt hurt to have tailoring since you use the 3piece bloodvine in pve until naxx tier gear.
