(on my tailor) I finally decided up to get busy on tailoring skill lv so I could craft new bags, since mats were piling up. image my surprise when I noticed Tidespray Linen Mittens, Honorable Combatant’s Satin Mittens and Sinister Combatant’s Satin Mittens are BoE but all others, esp the top ones at 415 are BOP! who thought this was a great idea? it isn’t even a good idea.
I was told by others that it was because of the hydrocore being bop. but if that were true, then the Embroidered Deep Sea bag should be BOP also (which it is not).
This is one of those moments I wished I was the one in charge of firing employees at Acti-blizz.
BfA appears to be returning to a Mists crafting system, abondoning the upgrade system that worked so well in WoD and Legion. Under this system you receive new crafted patterns with each major patch to help freshly level-capped players get gear, should they choose to spend the gold. I.e. 300/310 gear in 8.0 and now 340 crafted gear in 8.1.
On the other hand, not enough players were taking armorcrafting professions. So Blizzard decided it was a good idea to return “combat perks” to professions. The 415 gear is a reward for taking a less than profitable profession over something like inscription or a gathering profession. It is a perk of the profession and was NEVER intended to be sold or traded to alts. If the BoP pieces didn’t exist, 340 would still be the current crafted ilvl cap.
only one small problem, my DK is my tailor and the cloth gloves on a plate class??? plus the int based gloves have zero strength. so the 415 gear is still useless to bother crafting to gain skill unless of course I just craft to waste mats. sorry I don’t have that kind of gold to waste.
So…it’s a “problem” that a game with millions of customers is not designed to match 1 customer (you) and that customer’s optional choices (like rolling a plate class and then taking tailoring on that toon)?
And your solution is to fire people who DARE to not design the game for you?
My shaman is in a similar boat, blacksmithing on a mail class. Which is why it was a STUPID idea for Blizzard to return the crafting of combat perks to the game. Professions should be about making gold, not BiS gear for the crafter.
If they really wanted to add a perk for leveling the profession, it should have been something cosmetic.
vanilla, BC, wrath, cata, mop, wod, legion, bfa >> all have something in common on their crafting. care to guess? ok, i will tell you. most crafted items are not Bind on Pickup. any class can use any crafting skill.
Been awhile, but pretty sure most items during Vanilla and BC, at least those worth crafting at the time, were BoP. It wasn’t until combat perks were standardized in WotLK that Blizzard stopped introducing BoP crafted items for the most part.
The BoP items in BfA are borderline combat perks, a terrible idea that ruins professions, and a “reward” for leveling the profession. They aren’t meant to make gold.
