Was thinking of going tailor/gather (probably skinning) while leveling a warlock. Want to be able to craft my own bags and shadoweave gear when I reach that level. How should I prioritize my cloth between tailoring and first aid?
Also, how necessary is eng for a warlock on a PvP server? Everything I look up people make it seem like every single person on a PvP server should be eng and I don’t know if it’s worth taking if I’m not planning to take mining as well. Don’t really want to do enchanting either but was thinking of going herbalism since my brother’s already an alchemist and I can send him mats to craft things.
Just everyone makes it sound like if you don’t have eng the second you step into wpvp you just take 1000 bombs to the face and never put up any fight against anyone.
If you are starting fresh I would definitely start with skinning. I made the mistake of trying to level tailoring and enchanting at the same time and it has mostly been a gold sink. As for your secondary profession I would recommend a gathering but choosing eng, enchanting, and tailoring will be fine as well. The major thing is you are missing out on a lot of gold if you don’t have skinning to make vendor cash with.
Another thing to consider is first aid will also boost warlocks leveling speed when paired with Life tap and pet health. So choosing to level first aid will be more time effective vs using all your cloth trying to level tailoring first. You can still level first aid if you focus on tailoring first, the only thing is you will mostly be using old cloth that you no longer need. So for example, while I am using mageweave to level tailoring I am stuck using silk for my bandages.
As for selling bags for gold I have found that they aren’t selling well on my server last I checked so checking the market on your server would be a good idea.

I was probably gonna go tailor/skinning while leveling and drop skinning for something else at 60 since some tailoring recipes use skins anyway. I don’t really like taking the time to gather nodes w/ mining or herbalism while leveling, especially before 40.
I should say I leveled another toon to 40 and got the gold for my mount but decided I wanted to reroll before I actually got it, and since I’m going warlock and don’t need to buy a mount at 40 I’m basically starting with 100g.
If you already have gold and a level 40 alt then you are in a real good spot financially. Tailoring + enchanting is a really good option since you have the funds and another class to that can learn max profession.(level 35+) I would stick with skinning up to 60 and maybe even farm some gold with it but if you have a hunter/mage/druid as your alt I would recommend using them for skinning instead at level 60 as you will gain EXP for your alt + some gold for your lock.
What is your level 40 class?
Warrior.
Not really asking what professions I should do. I have that planned out. Just wasn’t sure if taking tailoring for leveling put first aid on the backburner or not.
It does, but you can make room for Bandages pretty easily. Keep a stack on you and just keep it topped off as you use them. If you start falling a whole cloth level behind, then grind for a bit and get a couple stacks of cloth to catch back up.
When I was leveling, my priority was to have tailoring as high as possible then any spare cloth will go to bandages. I did that because I wanted to wear the Shadoweave set as soon as possible (the biggest power boost in your 30s-40s). This shouldn’t be the case anymore since the set can be picked up relatively cheap off the AH now. You can probably prioritize first aid over tailoring now since it’s very valuable to have a stack or two on you at all times.
Depends on how you are playing. Mad 60 rush 1st aid prio and lvl prof later. Taking it slow and easy Do whatever u want.
If you have the mats/gold you can do both. If not putting first aid on the back burner won’t be bad but it won’t be as good as leveling it while the cloth drops are around your level.
Go first aid. Go back through and kill everything faster later. Make them bags now
