I have it on my paladin. It just has a low drop rate, much like most common items that are on the edge of uncommon.
Its definitely out already a good friend of mine got it while I was in a dungeon with him. Just note 3 things: 1. The tabard is bind on pickup so you wont find it on the AH 2. it only drops from the mobs that come in in armory after you kill herod, you wont find it on any other mods. 3. your best bet is to do the dungeon with friends and turn on ffa loot, that way people who don’t want the tabard wont get it.

it drops, i wore it for a bit, but its ugly so i ended up vendoring it for about a gold lol

The Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade drops from the Scarlet Trainees that spawn after killing Herod in the Armory of the [Scarlet Monastery]. It has an approximately 0.6% drop rate.
The Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade was added to the Scarlet Trainees’ loot table during the [Scourge Invasion]. Originally, it was a common item with almost 100% drop rate, but was upgraded to [uncommon] and the drop rate decreased considerably shortly before the release of Burning Crusade.

Is it a rare item? I got it on my first SM run yesterday haha.
The droprate seems higher than I remember. But, it’s still a rare drop.
I saw 3-4 tabards when I was farming Armory for all of the items. NEver got one myself, and you usually only see it once every 3-4 runs.
pretty sure the tabard itself was changed it use to be a green item hence when party member loots it goes to roll need/greed action. However when Blizzard changed all tabards everything was made white and the same thing still exists its a white item now that is looted by the single person.
is the OP thinking perhaps of The Tabard of the Argent Dawn? Which was the tabard specific to the Naxx invasion event.
EDIT: and much better looking than the Scarlet Crusade one. Yes, I have both originals.

I don’t understand this drop rate. I’ve run it almost 70 times and only saw it once when it went to someone else. Still nothing
Get Corrupted Ashbringer so you’re the real scarlet champion.
If you get that sword in Naxx the mobs in SM literally kneel or bow to you when you pass by them and they are no longer hostile.
