Very good question.
I love being able to macro, but sometimes Im scratching my head wondering why something wasnt put into the game itself.
Macros can get wonky as hades here and there…sometimes mine stop working entirely for a few minutes. Id rather have something this basic in the game itself…
they broke it when it was working fine, if i remember right it was in wod or beginning of legion and tons of posts about fixing it and ya still broke it’s just straight garbage and yet nothing done about it. it was one of those it was working fine cases so why mess with it and you see where it got us.
The first target using the tab cycle is the one facing you.
I do not have any problem with the tab targeting with the exception of a 8+ mob group and need to target a specific mob (the damn caster) which i click to clearly target the mob.
I’ve accidentally pulled extra mobs in dungeons on my SP because of tab targeting. I havent played a dotting class like SP or Afloc in a few expansions but I don’t remember ever really pulling extras because of tabbing.
The only positive to this deliberate off-targeting is, I get to use The Hunt to its fullest extent, hitting enemies in my path as I charge to the targeted one behind them all.
smiles at devs
That’s the default for hunters.
This happens to me a lot, and I figured out what’s going on. I use my mouse to run by pressing both left and right buttons. If your mouse curser happens to be over a mob, it will select it.
The tab targeting in wow sucks.
“Target nearest enemy” should be defined as it currently works which is “Target every enemy on the map, except the one right in front of you attacking you”.
Small indie company bro
It used to do this…then they changed it for some reason.
The game has never played right since.
One BIG thing you can do that helps. Check “sticky targeting”. That keeps you from accidentally unselecting your target when you’re trying to move the camera.
Weird, cause when i use it, it targets the nearest enemy and the one I am facing as intended
Like today, when I looked at an explosive orb and hit tab, it targeted it and i killed it
If they don’t want to create an option that cuts out the cycling and only ever targets the nearest enemy they could at least give us a way to reduce the range at which targets can be chosen.
Something like /targetnearestenemy5 could reduce the range of tab to only target enemies within 5 yards. Players could just use the command and adjust the number at the end of the command to set their preferred range on potential targets.
It’s anecdotal, but I definitely had fewer troubles with tab targeting in early expansions. Mishaps still happened but they were less common.
I’m just glad I’m not the only one. Constantly targeting the furthest one out while I’m getting face palmed. Then when no mobs in back I think I’m good and it targets a basket. sigh.
“Target the yellow bar duck that’s behind you”
HOLY NECRO BATMAN
None of you must have played Kara in Legion when they changed targeting else you wouldn’t be asking for changes like this.
… oh, I’m sorry. You were serious?
Blizz would never allow such sacrilege.
Have been messed up since MoP i know this because i farmed the frogs there back then on the timeless island and targeted only mobs infront of me then turning to the left or right and targeting that mob it was so good then it got broken and should i farm those frog now i would target mobs behind me and all over the place and might aswell click the mobs
Truer words have never been typed.
