and like, I have 1k gold to my name… and Tier 4. No one will ever take me to GDKP run lmao. And even if I get into one, I won’t be able to afford anything, so I’d end up leeching, so no1 will take me.
Quite a few less-than-BiS pieces sell for lower amounts, and even lower when nobody else needs them. It’s mostly BiS pieces - especially high-value pieces like the belt off Vash - that sells for a lot.
You don’t need to buy anything every single run, either. A lot of people do it to fund their consumes. They don’t just need buyers, they need bodies to fill the raid.
If you aren’t bidding on items that are upgrades for you you will get called on it in a GDKP.
So… you gonna do the attunement?
A 10% loss isn’t that big a deal.
The more you post about GDKP, the more I’m inclined to believe you’ve never gone to one.
People are more than happy to have warm bodies that don’t bid along, provided there’s enough stats to kill the bosses; it’s usually 1 or 2 people with a lot of gold doing the bid wars. It’s very common for items that drop frequently or simply aren’t as needed to go for a minimum bid, and that’s quite often very low/easy to obtain from dailies.
that’s not true. My T4 warr got told to come as a buyer. They want geared people and deep pockets. You won’t get invited to T5 GDKP with little gold or gear. GDKP wants to clear two raids within 3-4 hours.
Another option is SR pug which may or may not be able to clear. They also screen raiders if it’s a semi-guild run.
Basically, if you are late to the game without either gold or gear. You are double-fk by the attunement process.

They’re happy to have warm bodies along, assuming they’re geared. And you’re right there are some items that are just bad and most people don’t want that can be picked up on the cheap, the problems becomes when a good item does drop and someone doesn’t bid on it.
If you think people aren’t checking gear and seeing who should be bidding on items in a GDKP it seems more likely you don’t do many of them. You show up to SSC/TK in T4 gear and don’t bid on any of your T5 bis you will get called on it.
depends on the role, a t4 hpal wouldn’t be out of place and usually in demand because 1. it’s boring 2. buffs
Sure and obviously you can also throw some token bids in that you know will get outbid.
I used to join as a carry, occasionally would walk out with a nice item on a lowball bid.
Pays to be a healer sometimes

I think you might not get invited back NEXT week.
But I think its a very common situation to only need loot from Kael/Vashj, or for them to have the most important pieces.
You’re implying that they’ll try to replace you because you don’t shell out enough, but I think that’s pretty unlikely. They care if the bosses are dying and SOMEONE is buying, not if EVERYONE is bidding.
T5 is not BiS for most slots anymore and no one is going to look at you funny for not wanting to pay top dollar for something easily replaced by an early t6 boss.
By the way, no one wants to be the GDKP known for screwing people out of shares because they “didn’t bid enough”. So now I KNOW you’ve never done one.

This has literally never happened to me in any GDKP. On an undergeared alt I took good upgrades that no one else wanted (because they weren’t hotly contested) for very cheap, and then did runs where I never bid on the high value items because I didn’t want to spend 1k gold on it. This was never an issue. Plus there are plenty of people who go on characters where they need nothing for the gold.
You can also put baby bids in for contested items because obviously it’ll get outbid.
The point is that GDKPs don’t have a huge barrier of entry (outside of knowing what to do and trying) and are a good way to use your lockout.
and there is a point to at least baby bidding because if only whales are bidding then that’s where you get glaives sold for 5k because there isn’t anyone else to compete against
Sounds an awful lot like new/returning players as well as alts in Retail…
I’m a “New” TBC returning classic player and I for one look forward to daunting challenges in the pursuit of nostalgic dopamine hits!
Just saw this old post and laughed at how hysterical and wrong it was. Necroing for amusement
To be fair, we knew it was hysterical and wrong when it was new, too.
but on mine they usually require logs or in a GDKP a gold flash
jfc how horrifying
I feel for ya. You can always join a guild as as a,casual. That being said, if a guild needs players bad enough they’ll run them through.
