There was an interesting post made earlier this week on MC and Ony loot tables. In short, the question was posed: Will T2 Helm (Ony) and T2 Legs (Rag) be w/in the loot tables in CP1?
If so, it does somewhat minimize the achievement of getting T1 Helm/Legs.
If not, it will inevitably increase the drop chance of other items. Ie: Perditions Blade had a ~15% drop chance w/ T2 legs in the loot table. Take T2 legs out of the loot table, without a replacement, the Perd Blade drop chance could inevitably increase.
There could also be the chance that T2 legs didn’t play any part on the Perd Blade’s drop chance b/c T2 legs had their own internal drop chance. Meaning, two T2 legs were guaranteed to drop… which had no bearing on the Perd Blade. With that logic, Rag would just drop less loot (ie: no T2 legs).
Thoughts?
I think the question about t2 was if lots of it would drop in MC.
Until patch 1.4 iirc, t2 and t1 were mixed in with each other throughout MC and I think BWL which you couldn’t access at the time.
when 1.4 hit, they removed the t2 from MC (minus the pants which they made drop from rag) and added in some items to compensate for removing t2. Side note here this patch actually made it possible for some classes to complete their t1 set, I was missing one piece on my priest that i’m assuming dropped in BWL.
Ion tweeted that he thought the items added in the 1.4 patch would be added in phase 2 of classic, will they add t2 into the game early to compensate? Or will we have an mc drop table that has never existed outside of private servers for the first phase of the game.

40 people per raid, 2 pieces of T2 per kill.

That’s exactly my point. There is a good chance you may receive T2 prior to T1.
Didn’t T2 drop from Onyxia from the very start?
It was a mix and match across the board so quite possibly, I found an old screenshot of my guild at onyxia with bloodfang gloves linked but I’m not sure 100% they were from here or just from MC in general.
I am fairly certain that Rag and Ony will drop T2 from the beginning.
And also rest of MC will have the T1 loot and overall the finalized loot tables of it.
Makes no sense from Blizzard perspective to have anything else.

I agree that this will most likely be the case.
Some have made the argument that T2 is associated with BWL and should therefore be available only in P3 (specifically added to the loot tables of Ony and Rag in P3 as well).
Well they will be around and raiders will have them farmed out before BWL phase but that’s not a bad thing it just means casuals can start buying ony/mc boost runs earlier from raidguilds. Or guilds can start outfitting alts with that stuff.
There is never over abundance of loot in Classic so I don’t really think it’s an issue.
Good points. Either way, topics like this are just time passers as we wait for the inevitable release date
Well I made the argument that T2 was associated to BWL except for the legs and heads from rag+ony on the other thread, since that’s how most, if not all, remember it nowadays (so not hoarding out T2 legs+head until P3 ^^).
And loot table swapping would go along with their stance that item update is too confusing to the playerbase.
Also to add to that, having the regular T1 drops instead of random T2 without the 1.4 items during P1 is probably the least impactful to balance overall. People will clear MC way more easily this time around so having raining T2 might not be the best idea (my opinion, I see that some think otherwise)
I know that balance is already skewed but a bit of it might be nice. Having early birds with unobtainable gear during a all phase for others works a bit against that.
To summarize the impact of no 1.4 items during P1 for pve (so you can see if it’s really that important):
For tanks:
- Slightly higher chance to get Drillborer’s Disk on Garr (with Brutality Blade missing)
- Slightly higher change to get Medallion of Steadfast Might on Magmadar (Eskhandar’s Right Claw missing)
For melees:
- higher chance to get Band of Accuria, Bonereaver’s Edge on Ragnaros (Choker of the Fire Lord, Essence of the Pure Flame, Perdition’s Blade missing)
- Slightly higher change to get Striker’s Mark on Magmadar (Eskhandar’s Right Claw missing)
For casters:
- higher chance to get Azuresong Mageblade on Golemagg (no Staff of dominance)
For healers:
- slightly higher chance to get Aurastone Hammer on Garr (No Brutality Blade)
You can also see that as giving an edge to early birds, but it’s something that doesn’t impact the ones that start during P2 since they can also get it (even if they have to be luckier) and end up with the same gear.
(Edit: god I write too much)

Whatever argument they made, it was crap.

Including non pants/headpiece T2 in phase 1 when only MC/ony is available is just as dumb as the people begging for progressive itemization to be implemented.
I would put T2 only being available in BWL (and Rags and Ony) as a “fix” that they will implement, instead of a “content” that they will replicate.
My guess is they will drop as per 1.12.
