How has this team not learned since warlords of draenor? I feel like we need a wow degree to play this game.
It was really only in Legion that Blizzard fell in love with borrowed power and a ridiculously complex amount of systems to act as bandaids for the flaws in those sources of it.
WoD for all it’s flaws, was very straightforward as an expansion. You logged on, got loot from raid, maybe farmed some easy gold from your Garrison and then logged off til next week.
WoW mobile actually looks pretty fun to me.
Very true man. I feel like the community has been voicing this for so long.
I didn’t mean to go off-topic, I just have somewhat of a soft spot for WoD and I don’t like people blaming it for stuff it didn’t do.
Layering systems on systems is definitely a problem, and it’s easily one of the worst things about BFA and isn’t looking to get better in Shadowlands. But it didn’t start in WoD.
Damn, i wanted to create topic with same name. Feels like it’s going to be a freemium mobile game, but with a twist - you can’t put money to speed things up
That is because one system is just about all this game needs. It doesn’t need all these systems to be complicated. So I agree picking the mobile game one puts things at the correct level of complication.
Layers of systems = players are effectively slaves of the multiple systems.
Where is the player choice or agency?
Yet.
It’s the same thing really. Same systems as Legion and BFA just repackaged.
Which is okay, but it’s not really anything new or different.
Yep, they’ve learned absolutely nothing. I think it’s time to just face facts that no matter how many times we tell them we don’t want these complicated systems, they’re just going to keep pushing them on us.
I’m playing classic from here on out. Once I have reached my goals in that I am probably done with this game for good. It was a good run, friends.
Not sure I’ll jump aboard to catch the ship to complex/system lands. Game will probably end up like a full time job everyday to progress and not be behind, etc.
World of Warcraft, rise of complicated systems.
Shadowlands = Legion -.05.
Looks boring to me. It’s supposed to be an MMO not a single player mobile game full of submenus designed solely to produce “participation clicks.” I don’t think they really digested why mission tables were so unpopular. People want P2P content. They don’t want solo player mobile phone content. Really the only reason people wanted mage tower content was that the existing solo player content was insanely boring.
Anyway I never intended to buy it so it’s not for me.
I may be wrong about this, but I view all these systems as a barrier to me being able to log on and do what I want, when and how I want. This was somewhat of a pain in Legion, and it looked so bad in BFA, than I sat out the expansion. It looks like it will be even worse now. Why not just create things that the players will be excited about?
-
New classes (Necromancers, Tinkers)
-
Redesigns of specs that are unpopular and/or broken (Shadow priests, arcane mages)
-
A 4th spec to all classes (Wardens, Gladiators, Warlock Metamorphosis, Ranged Survival)
-
New Races (Sethrak, Ethereal, Arakkoa, Ogres )
-
New Race/class combinations (Night Elf Paladins, Vulpera druids, etc)
-
More class customization (Death Knights taming undead, even more forms for druids like claws of shirvallah, alternative spell effects)
If Shadowlands, in my humble view, had some of these options people would go nuts.
I was laughing at the mission board pic he showed thinking, WTH?
Didn’t Ion use the actual words “borrowed power” on the SL stream? I thought that was quite ironic.
Friend, this is only 9.0.
Just wait to see how many we end up with in 9.3, lol.
Players: “There’s nothing to do!”
Devs: “Ok, here ya go.”
Players: “OMG World of Systemcraft!”
