Everything is killable, eventually. Just wait for more gear.
Did you do layer 3? If so I am wondering how you managed to kill the boss before it gets 10 stacks of unnatural power and is immune to CC and just kills you.
Layer 1… I don’t think anyone here is complaining that they can’t beat layer 1.
I only attempted it on Disc and I have noooo idea how you Dpsers do it unless you’re really geared and just zerg him as quickly as possible. I took him down but it was me running around in circles spamming Purge the Wicked and Penance and Mindgames on cooldown and a few times I got really close to dying.
I did it as affliction warlock in 154 ilvl. The first try, I kept getting him to around 28% and then died because he had 10 stacks. The second run, I won easily because I was offered a +30% dmg pot from the vendor.
There’s some RNG to this since I do not think it was mathematically possible for me to win without that pot.
I did layer 3 in both halves. Honestly I don’t think they even got to 10 stacks, they both fell over pretty easy, that or I just kited them while they had it up. On one of them I had the fire blast power that pops them into the air, which makes the fight really simple, and Mirror Images help tank a bit.
It’s not even about strategy, people are overthinking this problem. It’s all down to busted overscaling. Walk into Torghast at ilvl 139 and you streamroll the entire place straight to Layer 3 completion with almost 0 effort. Go in at 170 and you’ll want to kill yourself because for every 5% stronger you get, the bosses get 50% more health. The place is basically scaling exponentially against players who are scaling linearly.
Whoa really? I didn’t know it worked that way. Maybe I should have saved my low ilvl gear for future runs…
Yeah, I just did it as ret with ilvl 149. Extra shield from Necrolords was helpful along with using divine shield to wipe stacks off myself if I missed an interrupt. I think I had the two of the powers that give a buff to the next holy power ability after using hammer of wrath, along with one giving HoW a bunch of stacks, kind of a nice combo.
Scaling enemies doesn’t just scale off what you have equipped, that was fixed ages ago as it was easy to abuse, it checks against your bags and bank as well. The only way to lower your ilvl for Torghast is to keep a low level set then vendor your entire good set and wear the crap one instead. It works but I hope your account has its Item Restore available if you end up DCing and having that clear out the Buy Back on the vendors.
ilvl 154 - Can confirm impossible to kill Synod with Frost DK (Even w Drums!) . Mind freeze has a 15 second cooldown, asphyxiate has 45 sec - tried death gripping but his cast timer is either faster than the animation or the pull doesnt interrupt him. After the first two shouts it goes down hill real quick and no amount of damage reduction could save me - icebound fortitude? ripped up like wet tissue paper
lmao that is so awful…
I wonder would void storage work?
haven’t encountered Synod yet…how bad is he?
Because its a solo dungeon. Yes you can do it in a group, but why not run a regular dungeon instead if you want a group activity?
Torghasts only claim to fame is that its a solo dungeon.
I could bring friends to beat up the little kid next door as well, but that seems like overkill when he can only fight back against one person at a time. Id be embarrassed to do it in a group.
Try it as a different class, torghast is a joke as a fury warrior. I did upper reach 3 with complete ease.
it depends on the boss ya get, for example if you get the suppressor boss, i imagine you wont do very well against his constant shield, and if your fury warrior can do synod as he is now on level 3 or higher, share your tactics
Arch suppresor Laguas? I bought a 1.5min no rage cost buff and rampaged him into the ground. He was my upper reach 3 boss.
interesting, i did him on my DH and found him easy due to consume magic, but would have expected the shield to give a warrior issues, if i ever do it on my warrior will have to try that out
Killed it as a mage, easy peasy arcane spec.
Might also have been that half my gear is not 184 as well, the rest 171 so I was scaled higher then the average player.
