Syncing/Linking to WoWProgress/Raider.IO (Safe?)

Hi, was just wondering as the title asks. :fu::point_up:

I’m seeing how widely used the aforementioned websites are, and, upon creating accounts there I also see the ability to “sync” and “link,” respectively, my Blizzard account. Very curious if that is safe.

Thanks!

Tons of people are linked, including myself. I’ve never had an issue.

It’s only a permission for them to verify it is my account. It doesn’t give them any ability to mess with anything. Right?

Forgive me, I just don’t wanna screw myself here. Heh.

All they get is a list of your wow characters. They cannot do anything and they won’t see your email/password or any sensitive information  You can also log in to your account and revoke this access at any time.

Really, cool. Thanks, guys!

Oh, another question’s occurred to me. Does creating and linking an account at either website allow the user the ability to take down their name from listings? For example, if I wanted to remove myself from account-wise from Raider IO (so I am not searchable)?

Yes for Raider io. I don’t know about the other sites.

For raider io once you log in do the following…

  1. Select My Account > Settings in the upper right corner
  2. Select the character you want to hide from the list in the upper left.
  3. Select Privacy for that character
  4. Select the settings you want for that character. There are different options for the in-game addon and the website itself.

However I will quote the warning on the site.

When hidden, players forming groups will see no score for your character in-game which may have adverse affects on getting invited into groups.

That means people will likely assume you either have no experience in M+ or a very bad record. It’s kinda like applying for a job with a blank resume.
