Do you guys think this is a hint of future content? We’ve had store mounts related to future content before. And now we have a brand new unknown breed of dragon, and we know Wrathion is on the Dragon Isles. And his agents show up a ton in 8.2
Also something I noticed, the new dragon and the vulpine familiar share the exact same colour pallet and both have silver armor with blue jewels. Possibly from the same land?
So any thoughts about what or if this alludes to anything? The origins of this dragons?
(lets keep this thread clear of paid mount ethical debates please)
Wow they do look strikingly similar. I don’t think they have something to do with each other, though, I wouldn’t be suprised to see that skin of fox in the same zone as that dragon. But I do agree! You’re right about thematical mounts being released before their corresponding content, and dragon focused content is likely to come.
The Emerald Dream is where Thros the Blighted Lands created by Yogg-Saron as well as the Nightmare created by N’Zoth were both located! Two interesting places. Yogg-Saron and N’Zoth fought each other so we should expect the Thros fiends and Soul Elementals to clash against the Nightmare Haunts and Faceless!
But what realm of the Dream was created by C’Thun though?.. Maybe a Silithid Desert?
No I think they say how popular the vulpine mount was as a seller and decided to create another in a simmilar style. I haven’t seen any story content created around the vulpine, and I don’t see one for this. The Faerie Dragon at least got a humorous quest and some interaction in WOD “We tell everyone that she’s adopted.”
This mount has been in the files since before the Vulpine Familiar was officially revealed. Its icon was first datamined at the same time as the Vulpine Familiar, actually.
Additionally, the fae dragon and runesaber mounts were added in MoP and WoD, despite not having any story relevance until WoD and Legion (and were likely created for the upcoming expansion and later backported to the current expansion to add to the shop).
In this light, them adding a dragon with aquatic elements like finned ears and fish-like antennae when there’s so many hints going around about the Dragon Isles is highly suspicious.
While dragons have made a big come back in the plotline if you pay attention and we’re for sure going to be seeing more of that in the future, I don’t think this store mount has anything to do with the next expansion anymore than the flying lion did.
The mount description says that this creature was magically created when a Dalaran painter that fell asleep on her paintbrush had a dream about it. It’s literally from someone’s imagination, which is why I think it looks as it does. It could be an xpac hint though I doubt it.
though to be fair, all the other mounts that ended up hinting at other xpacs/content had random descriptions that had nothing to do with the content they later showed up in
Pure speculation here, but I wonder if they make a number of mounts for each expansion and then whatever ones get rejected for quest rewards, dungeons, raids, etc get used for cash shop?
Well, the Vulpine Familiar supposedly comes from another world in the Great Dark, and this Dragon, if related to anything, seems to be related to the Emerald Dream.
I think others are right. The fox was a success so they tried to replicate parts of it for a new storemount.
Kind of wish they’d gone for the Frostwhisker Otter someone had submitted in a contest instead.
The Emerald Dream is connected to everyone’s Dream so Dream beings are expected! The fact that the name Sylverian is used and Sylvan is the term for Wood Elves…
Those who dread the continued additions of Elves are going to be furious! Quick! Someone on Azeroth dream up good K’thir and good Sha-People(that resemble Shaku, the Collector)! We need them to fight the true Void!
I mean, Night Elves are Wood Elves, just nocturnal. Let’s just leave it at that. At this point I don’t think even Blizzard is foolish enough to add more elves to this game. Void Elves was stretching it pretty hard.
