I have a question about Sylvanas. She was good as we all know, but when she was stripped of her life and turned into a Banshee and broke free of Arthas’ control. Why is she out trying to punish everyone else and create suffering for them? She broke free wouldn’t she want to prevent others from feeling her pain?
Easy, I got this one guys. She was cursed, her soul twisted and manipulated by both Arthas and Zovaal.

for the entirety of WoW’s history this is very true and it is why her total character shift in the past couple years been so jarring.
This is also true to explain away why Sylvanas has been so weird for the past couple couple years with this new direction, and now we have story that is being retroactively applied to make sense of it all.
Like the Jailer being behind every little evil since WoW has been going on. Even the legion invasion in WC3 is his fault! WHO KNEW?!
Her character seems so twisted and I wasn’t sure if she could be saved or not and if so what would happen to her. I guess I feel for her character after watching a trailer and then playing Warcraft.

Zovaal literally snatched part of her soul and kept it in a secret chamber in WoW Hell, the remaining part of her soul was further twisted by Arthas. Now stack on some trauma and sprinkle a little torture on top.
I’ve always thought that asking “Why wasn’t Sylvanas making decisions normal people would make” was literally overlooking her backstory and lore.
Her new lore as of a few patches ago or the one that has been going on for almost two decades?

Sylvanas along with the Forsaken general population aren’t 100% themselves. Cdev finally came out with a statement that I’ve pretty much parroting since they posted it, which is that the soul of the undead are partially attached to their bodies. They then went on to lay out the side effects of necromancy.
I’ve been saying this for years on top of years.
What was your first clue regarding this? You know… from a two decades ago?
And what do you mean they weren’t themselves? Do you have a frame of reference what they were before to compare to their after?

WAS she though? I know almost nothing about her backstory. Her family loved her, sure, but that’s biased. She let a human into an all-elf organization, so she’s not racist- but he may have been her lover, so there’s possible nepotism. And she tried her best to prevent her people from being destroyed by a horde of undead- so she’s not a coward or traitor like Darkhan. Any non-completely evil high elf would do their part there.
This honestly ISN’T a troll post btw- I’ve hear people say ‘she was good’, but how much has this goodness been shown?

There are a few that I have continuously posted throughout the years.
- The souls of the undead are partially attached
- Literally every reference, to include cdev interview that talks about how necromancy screws you.
- Manga, mentions that Sylvanas soul being changed
- The UVG also talks about her souls being changed for infinity.
The Banshee Queen is a twisted/shadow side version of RG Sylvanas.
She was visibly rushing women and children to safety during Arthas invasion of Quel’thalas. She then gave the ultimately sacrifice protecting her people.

It is canonical truth that Sylvanas was the bestest girl. She regularly fed the homeless, tended to the sick, gave her earnings as Ranger-General to charity and fought for equal treatment of trolls in Quel’Thalas. Sylvanas was a noble soul of light and laughter before Arthas.
