Sylvanas' Plan

It’s Theory Time, given some insight from some guild mates, people on this forum, and the Whisper of Il’gynoth, I think I have some idea what to expect following BfA.

“Before the last shadow falls, the Father of Sleep shall savor his feast.” -Il’gynoth

The Father of Sleep is a Death Loa primarily worshiped by Farakki Trolls named Mueh’zala. I think this is a pretty explicit tell regarding who Death is. It is most likely the Loa who told Vol’jinn to make Sylvanas Warcheif, and most likely the Death God she seems to be serving.

I predict that the story right now is a retelling of Warcraft 3. Sylvanas is Arthas, War of Thorns was set up to be the Fall of Quel’thalas. Tyrande, Malfurion, Maiev, even Delaryn… they are in positions to fulfill the roles of Kael and Sylvanas in this bad Reign of Chaos/Frozen Throne play.

All we need to figure out is who is playing what role, and I think we can do this to some degree.

Tyrande is either Kael or Sylvanas, but I think she is more likely to be Kael where Delaryn is Sylvanas. Can’t say what will be done with Delaryn yet, but I will come back to Tyrande later.

We also know now that Azshara intended to kill or imprison N’zoth in Xal’atath, which was part of the pact she made with Sylvanas. This mimics the pact Arthas made with Illidan to undermine Tichondrius, putting Xal’atath in a similar position as the Skull of Gul’dan… The key difference here is Illidan succeeded in Killing Tichondrius, where we stopped Azshara from killing N’zoth. She does however, give us the means to kill him in the Nyalotha raid. I can’t yet say for certain who she gives the blade to, or if she ends up delivering the blow herself. We shall see.

Regardless, Azshara is well aware of what Sylvanas intends to unleash on this world, and now shares a goal with Tyrande to stop her. Similar to how Illidan and Kael joined forces, we are going to see that with Tyrande and Azshara as they both pursue Sylvanas together. Yes, I know they hate each other, but mutual goals makes for good frenemies. Tyrande is also not on good terms with Anduin right now.

Meanwhile, Sylvanas is attempting to seize the power of Mueh’zala for herself… I think she is going to do this in a few ways.

“When their mistress beckons, nine ravens take flight. Each seeks a prize to earn her favor.” -Il’gynoth

Her nine ravens are her nine Dark Rangers, who will be scouring the sands of Tanaris and Uldum for an artifact. This will be the “Scepter of bone” mentioned here:

“The blind queen wields a scepter of bone. From the deep she calls forth doom.”

The “blind Queen” here is Sylvanas… note this is said by a servant of the Void. Who claims Sylvanas serves “The True enemy” So it makes sense that she would be called blind.

The scepter of bone will be the Scepter of Azj’Aqir, which will be used to command an army of Silithid. In other words, she will “Call forth doom from the deep.” Deep below ground.

This will essentially be Sylvanas’ Frostmourn. We will essentially see another War of the Shifting Sands… Sylvanas at the head of a Silithid Army, attempting to seize the power of Meuh’zala… which is probably in the Shadowlands. With the Naga and Army of the Black Moon opposing her.

Now… Blizzard is not going to just copy paste Warcraft 3… So all of this is just a loose structure to what I think is going to be the basis of what happens. It will most likely not happen exactly like this, and the rest of the Alliance and Horde will assuredly play a role. I am not sure how… But I think this is a pretty decent prediction. I think it sets things up for The Shadowlands, Death, The Infinate Dragonflight, the Wound in Silithus could play a role. Azerite empowered Silithid maybe? I think it explains why Uldum is being attacked by N’zoth as opposed to Ulduar.

I am sure its not exact, but I am feeling pretty good about this one.

Interesting theory, and you’ll forgive me if my lengthy disconnection from the game leaves me ignorant of some of the nuances however…

This plan seems to hinge on troll lore being important?

I forgot to note that at the beginning of the Azerite storyline, the first time Sylvanas came into contact with the stuff, her mind was filled with vision. This is something Anduin experienced as well, but while Anduin saw how he could use Azerite for healing, Sylvanas saw herself as a Goddess of Death.

So… maybe its not Mueh’zala, but I think “Father of Sleep” is pretty explicit that it is… and it’s been Sylvanas’ plan to over-take his position since before BfA’s launch.

I’m not sure if this would be better than the alternatives. It doesn’t make me wince, at least.

I’ve jokingly been rolling with the idea that Good Girl Azshara will find her way back into Night Elf society. Maybe after N’zoth is defeated the Naga revert to elven form and this offsets the murdered Kal’dorei from the War of Thorns.

But it might not be as much of a joke as I thought if you’re right.

Tyrande can’t be Sylvanas because Sylvanas actually defended her homeland from invasion.

Right, which is why she is more fitting as a Kael to me. Which is why I think Azshara and Tyrande are going to team up.

But, assuming my theory is true. And assuming Blizzard is basically retelling Warcraft 3. That means Tyrande and Azshara lose to Sylvanas just as Illidan and Kael lost to Arthas

Potentially anyway. I think there is some kind of parallel Anduin has with Arthas as well. I’m not sure what that is yet.

N’Zoth’s forces seem to be attacking Uldum for the Forge of Origination there, although I’m not entirely sure why, because unless it can be reconfigured, it’s purpose is actually to wipe Azeroth clean of a threat like he himself would pose. I suppose it’s true Deathwing sought it too (or were we just there to prevent it from being turned on by some crazy constructs?) so maybe there is something more, or maybe he just wants to prevent us from using it. We appear to use it anyway somehow in conjunction with the Engine of Nalak’sha, but this may end up failing or going wrong because Ra-den ultimately becomes corrupted regardless.

I’m not sure if Sylvanas will wind up at the head of an army of Aqir though, if she opposes the Old Gods and seeks to control death. More likely, she’ll command some Helarjar, courtesy of Helya - this could also be seen as calling up doom from the deep. Helya could even end up playing the role of Anub’arak.

Sylvanas is likely serving some death thing toll she csn get enough power then using her galaxy sized best stratagist evar brain she eill manipulate the alliance and horde into killing her master so she can take its place.

Sometimes it is more endearing to think of Sylvanas as the kind of person who just is able to fake having everything under control, but inside, she’s going…

Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap how the hell did those idiots get all those jerks right outside the gates? DoNt WoRrY DaRk LaDy I cAn HeAr tHeM All ThE WaY In MuLgOre. Freakin’ Nathanos. Cripes. Ok. Ok. Just be cool, you can do this. Just like you practiced. You are not Garrosh. You are not Garrosh. You are a strong, independent banshee and you don’t need no old god heart.

Saurfang wants what? …I can work with this. I’m just gonna grab Bannerbae, swagger out those gates, and play it cool. Make 'em think I’m not even gonna do it. How hard can it be? I’m just gonna stick him a few times, make him sad, and all of this just goes away.

See? Going great. All according t…SONOFABISCUIT! …why does he even HAVE that thing? UUUgh, Ghanduin. Why does he keep giving Horde leaders weapons? Why does Baine keep giving them back? On that note, why did Baine break off a piece of his… focus. Questions for later. Saurfang’s still jawing. Oh just shut up old

“THE HORDE IS NOTHING!”

THA FREAK DID I JUST SAY? Oh balls. Dammit. Bannerbae’s even giving me the eye. …oh well, I’m not apologizing. Might as well see how this plays out. We’ll just finish up Saurfang aaaaand… peace the hell out of this crap-show. Peace!

Sylvanas’s plan is pretty simple, Gain enough power that she can avoid the fate that awaits her Soul in the Shadow lands.

There is no underlying plan there.

She doesn’t care who she needs to screw over to get her goal. She is happy to manipulate the people like nathanos who think she cares.

she will probably end up trying to kill Azeroth and absorb its soul to become a god in the end. we will have to stop her.

Blizzard copies and pastes WC3 for 15 years. Of course they will do that.

Caedmun wins the thread.

Again.

I think this is a pretty good summary/idea of where it could go but could the writers actually pull it off well?

Far more entertaining than how Golden writes Sylvanas’s inner monologue.

this is great.

Azshara and the naga are probably the only thing Tyrande hates more than Sylvannas and the forsaken.

I think this is debatable. I think the wound left by Sylvanas is more fresh in Tyrande’s mind, where Azshara is an old enemy. Given that Azshara also wants Sylvanas dead, I don’t think it is unrealistic at all for Tyrande to enter an uneasy alliance of convince with her.

Keep in mind, that I am basing this on the premise that Blizzard is using Warcraft 3 as a guide for storytelling… In this scenario, Azshara is Illidan and Tyrande is Kael’thas. Keal and Illidan were also enemies once. In fact, if not for Kael aiding Maiev and Malfurion, Illidan might have succeeding in killing the Lich King with they Eye of Sargaras. If Illidan had succeeded, it would have done untold damage to the planet. They had a lot of reasons to hate eachother, yet they still joined forces because it was mutually beneficial.

Oh my god I am still wheezing.
