The way you type it sounds like it should be a mind blowing surprise.
And by being Ebon Blade first and foremost we wouldn’t join Sylvana’s faction, because I’m sure she’d be written as bat S*** crazy and would become raid fodder. We would be raiding her like we did with arthas, and not helping.
If she becomes the leader of an undead faction you can rest assured that won’t be playable, it will be Wrath 2.0 but bad written and pointless.
I’m just being reminded of when Legion launched at we had DEATH KNIGHTS claiming that “All demon hunter players are just kiddie edgelords!” and it’s like, folks, have some self-awarenessss
Sure, I’ll join Necromonger Sylvanas. Over my dead body!
The Necromongers are a religious empire and one of four elder races, that zealously and violently follows and propagates its religion Necroism. An absolutely fanatic group that believes life is antagonistic to the natural state of the universe. They intend to convert or kill all who oppose them.
They have been trying, and trying, and trying to have a “cool, edgy, morally dubious force” on the Alliance side. First with the Night Elves, then with the worgen, and now with the Void Elves. I can’t see Lightbound Mag’har working out any better than the rest.
while also having sylvanas part of her schemes, like having sylvanas sending/luring us to nazjatar where azshara uses the energy in our heart of azeroth.
also scourge undead are different than forsaken undead, scourge undead can’t be corrupted because they dont have a will to corrupt. it would be like corrupting rocks
Call me crazy, but that sounds interesting if for no other reason than getting to play a faction that explores (in a way) transhumanism. Love the lore of deathknights, too, Though I’d like to think the Ebon Blade would remain neutral and even more distant.
Your idea immediately reminded me of something I recently responded to Darhliana the other day:
Give me those sweet sweet reps right into my veins. Who you need killing? Did you know you can be exalted with the Bloodsail Buccaneers and the Steamwheedle Cartel at the same time? I’ve committed pirate genocide to the point of making Nathan Drake look like a saint.
Though, I do see one likely situation due to WoW’s older tech, which I discussed last night, actually:
Unfortunately I don’t really see it plausibly working for legacy content.
But, then again, maybe they could open it up, since, well, Allied Races make no sense going back and leveling through content that wouldn’t actually have been around for, so there’s plausible leeway to suspend disbelief for that. But they would probably have to wade through a lot of programming bugs it might cause.
I do t think they could realistically implement EQ style reputations, sadly, since it just wouldn’t fit the legacy content for the reasons you describe.
However, they might be able to implement a miniature version of it at end game. Just create opposing sides — Light vs Void say — and give players choice as to which side they take.
It could be like the Scryers vs the … Draenei team whose name escapes me, but more modern, interesting, and meaningful.
Aldor. Though, I hope you would be able to get both reps instead of having to choose one that tanks the other. The “Hero of Shattrath” Feat of Strength is nice and all, but it would be nicer if it set be to exalted with both factions, specially since they united for the Shattered Sun Offensive any way.
