Honestly, its a string of ret cons.
- Forsaken have freewill/ break away from scourge.
- Lots of plotting and devising continues up until BFA, where she “Betrays the horde.”
- “Oh she doesn’t have free will, she is controlled by the boogeyman who is bald.” (also scourge apparently).
- “Oh she really just has split personality disorder, it wasn’t her fault!”
They took a great story arc and trashed it the entire way through.

How I truly feel is she is very much a victim. She wanted change and revenge and as per most baddies had gone about it pretty wrong. If she stopped at revenge against Arthas no one would see her as wrong.

I mean, the whole “victim” thing is becoming a theme and trend in the game. Arthas was “Victim” to other’s negligence. But ignore personal responsibility, we act on emotions, not as intellectuals lol.
You see it a lot in real life as well. Usually people in prison had been victims before doing wrong. Kinda a wrong creates wrong kinda deal

I suppose, but I’m not sure Arthas story fits within the category of an abusive childhood. For the things he did, I’m not sure half the prison population would do, usually their issues come from “respect,” or gang mentality.
Being told how to be a paladin and having a negligent teacher is a bit of a stretch for me, not that I disagree with your point there, but I’m not sure Arthas is the equivalent of a gang member, or using petty/grand theft sorta thing.
A lot of his actions were based in a desire to save, but I suppose good intentions pave the way to hell.

I don’t think she is a bad person. I think she was mislead.
Hopefully she can redeem herself in the near future and return back to the Horde.

I agree with you. That generally gives you tougher skin. That’s why I felt that if she stopped at Arthas revenge arc all woulda been good.
You’re not misunderstood when you try to kill your family, kill your own soldiers, experiment on your own people and seek vengeance at all cost and commit suicide.
The person that is misunderstood is whoever made the Sylvanas retcon because that’s a whole load of crap.

Sylvanas is a terrible character with a ruined story that I never want to encounter again.
