I am going to be honest, I never liked this character and I never seen the appeal of her to so many. With BfA giving her so much spot light, I think its time to voice my opinion of what I think is just one of the least interesting characters.
I read her full story, I know pretty much all the lore there is to know and I still think Sylvanas is super over rated.
1. Moody as all heck- Yeah I get it, she has reasons to be but its still just kinda bland and does not change the fact she turns the emo factor up to intolerable levels.
2. Story is all over the place- The whole plotline was the Forsaken braking off from the Arthus for free will and what was thought to be able to better them selves and reconnect to some from of humanity. Instead she takes everything Arthus did to her and her people and does it to others! Why? Why would someone who talks about Undeath being a curse wish to spread it on a massive scale?
3. God moding- This is a new dislike of mine against the character as of BfA, largely in part with the cut scene for the Fall of Lorderon scenario I mean come on...Many other examples are there as well that made me roll my eyes in the back of my head.
4. The Horde would never follow- I would think that as this point in the story it would not make any sense for the Horde to yet again go along with another war crazed Warchief that starts conflict on a massive and unreasonable level. The whole Hordes history is being used to fight for someones agenda be it Garrosh or the Legion and rising up to become better then just some pawns. But nope! Here we have the makings of SoO 2.0
5. How she is written- I will give Sylvanas credit for something though, despite always queen dark and edgy, I think the new lore has taken that to a whole new level and its a level that I honestly A. Dont think she would ever really do or B. Would never have gotten this way if it were not for a power trip of becoming leader.
6. As edgy as it gets- Really does not need an explanation. I get people like characters like this and that okay, but I dont.
Anyway there are the biggest reasons I do not like her, feel free to yell at me for them in the comments below or have a reasonable discussion for why you agree or disagree.
Sylvanas was interesting when Arthas was around. And that was because she was a satellite character around Arthas.
Remove him and you get... pretty much nothing.
But that model update matched her appearance with how she looked like in The Frozen Throne...

Sylvanas is just a way for people to act like they are rebels and feel special. There really isn't any thing redeeming about Sylvanas as a character any more. All that is left is for people to dislike her and then others to like her because so many dislike her.
Edit: She also is a representation of brutality and with all the latest popular shows (GoT for example), it's considered hip and trendy to like more brutal things instead of what people would consider normal life.

This exactly.
She was interesting up to ICC when she throws herself off of Icecrown. Her story should've ended there, it would have been a good ending.
But no. They decided to pull "super hell" out of nowhere and completely butcher her character, making her into the abomination that she is since Cataclysm.
Don't get me wrong, she wasn't a good person at all before Cata, but at least she was interesting. Now she's just a creepy evil edgelord who wants to avoid "super hell" and raise all living things into undeath to "serve her" (What for though?) Yawn.

I actually really like her story and the whole idea behind it and her people.
They took, like, mindless lackies to a big evil (The Lich King) and gave them free will to create their own civilization! I think that's neat.
She was never really in the spot light till now and we get to see what her plans are and how the Forsaken act now they are in charge.
The Forsaken also have some zombie tropes like "wanting to create more zombies". I'm sure there are more.
I think all the leaders (and tropes) of the Horde are very interesting. I would like to know more about the Tauren now though.

she's always had the ability to raise skeleton minions ever since she became a banshee in WC3. it was her ability called Black Arrow (when things affected by Black Arrow died they were reborn as a skeleton on her side), if anything it was just another call back to WC3 like so much of the other promotional BfA stuff10/31/2018 09:48 AMPosted by Zhiifang3.
