Sylvanas Hate Thread

Is anyone else out there tired of Sylvanas being in the spotlight for the story in recent expansions? I never did like her as a character and I hope Shadowlands is the expansion where her story ends or she ends up being a raid boss. She’s been causing too many problems and she just simply walks away, karma has to catch up with her eventually.

Victory for Sylvanas

In my honest opinion, she should’ve disappeared for one expansion. Give us more time to build up the whole bolvar raising new DKS. While also giving us a break from her character.

The problem is that they could have actually did some real development of Sylvanas… but they only took her to the most obvious of obvious directions that they could have.

The same direction that made me seriously question why she wasn’t drummed out of the Horde with the Forsaken during Cata.

Do you remember in Legion when we played as Illidan/his memories or w/e? Go through Black Rook Hold area of Val’sharah, sacrifice all of his fellow mages? At the end of Legion, Illidan flew off into outerspace as a hero; guarding Sargeras with his very life!

So this 1 expansion, we have Sylvanas as the main character–this time, character revealed in the opposite direction. From seemingly good to bad, rather than seemingly bad to good.

Next is gonna be a Bolvar expansion obviously. What’s all the fuss about?

The Undead leveling zone made me think she cared about the Forsaken.

That long talk you have with her about not letting the Forsaken die out and such.

And after i hear this easy story of “BUT THE GREATER PLAN BENEFITS YOU” bs, i just don’t care for her story arc anymore.

Calia is more thicc anyway. And i had a soft spot for her for awhile.

In Illidans case it was Blizzard fixing the mess they did to his character in TBC, since he went from an anti-hero to an insane tyrant out of nowhere

Anyway Sylvanas character is beyond saving and at this point any attempt to “fix” her would just be stupid, just end her

Oh I’ve always disliked her. Very unlikable, no redeeming qualities. Before it was kind of easy to ignore her, but nowadays she’s my #1 on characters who need to go away forever.

But the good news is you’re hopefully right and Shadowlands will finally be the end of the line for her. One can dream.

I quite liked the silverpine quests as well. She worked well as an interesting side character that impacted things through the forsaken not being able to directly take the blame see the wrathgate for just an example. But when you put her into the spotlight…it just gets :face_vomiting:

I like Sylvanas as a tragic antihero. This whole “I will transend Death and free us all” Sylvanas who is as evil as a soul-twisted banshee usually is …its just lazy writing.

The Forsaken were cool because they were all the most stereotyped bad guy race who were not bad guys for once. Then Blizzard made them basically Scourge 2.0.

No. For two very big reasons.

I’m definitely tired of her. Too bad there couldn’t have been ghostbuster type tinkers to finally rid Azeroth of her.

She represents the old ways of Mountain Dew Horde and Alliance factions dying off. They dont belong in the game anymore, move on. If you dont like Sylvanas you are just lost.

I really don’t care.

I realize she’s not real. No one else in the game is, either.

Uhhh…no.

I like her, she farm so much salt from Alliance roleplayer that can’t differentiate between reality and video games.

I’ve seen a Night Elf roleplayer having mental breakdown and does an entire page of QQs, it was glorious.

Not even Archimonde can pull such feat.

She’s a more edgy version of a Disney princess, the perfect mascot for WoW these days I suppose. I’m sick and tired of looking at her stupid face though, for sure.

I don’t hate Sylvanas having the spotlight, I hate what they have done with her time in the spotlight. Same way I don’t hate Jaina getting spotlight but hated how they handled it from Mop and through Legion.

BFA actually gave some enjoyable Jaina character development and lore in my eyes. I still think her powers, as depicted in the Battle for Lorderon, are absolutely absurd but aside from that I have enjoyed her character development.

Sylvanas has been the opposite however. I have enjoyed her from WCIII through Legion, she was actually one of my favorite lore characters and I especially enjoyed the story in Legion. However, pre-patch to now has drug her through the mud in my opinion and taken a character I genuinely enjoyed and ruined it. Honestly, I just want her dead now so that her story can end before its tainted even more with absurd powers, contradictory motivations, snap decisions, etc.

When Garrosh was… tarnished… the way he was it was upsetting. I loved the potential of Garrosh as a real Orc Warchief with fire in his veins! A character that was learning of different ways of honor through Cata but also proud of his Orc heritage! A character that wanted to be a pure warrior free from taint. Then he immediately goes and dabbles with old gods as if forgetting everything about being a pure Orc only to once again heel turn in WoD and go back to that idea of pure Orc pride.

I am just getting tired of that kind of poor character writing…

And I swear if they try to pull a Sylvanas redemption, we were wrong the whole time, she was the good guy, plot then I might seriously consider quitting. Been following the Warcraft story since WCII Battlechest, there is a lot I have accepted, but there is only so much bad writing I can take before I feel the need to just cut the loss.

Better than the miriad of “this is broken, this is op, this is bad, blizzard is bad, remove DH, nerf DH”.
Really, Sylvanas at least has interesting things to be said about.
