Sylvanas is coming back after finding her dead brother Lirath’s soul and returns him to the revamped capital city as the Royal musician to teach players to be the Bard class and learn more about the radiant song.
or
Sylvanas is coming back because Azeroth’s World Soul hatches and kills everyone on the planet not already dead, so instead of bringing souls from the shadow lands, she raises everyone as a forsaken with Uther’s help and they live on chunks of Azeroth planet like what is left of K’aresh or Outlands.
I think they’re bringing her back because they have plans on killing the current Lord Ranger and since her attitude has changed and she’s no longer bound to under city because of the new council that Silver Moon is going to need a new leader and since she is a former Lord Ranger and is still technically a high elf she qualifies for the job
Sylvanas finishes emptying the Maw and goes to Pelagos, who says she did a great job and can finally rest in Maldraxus.
She’s furious for being denied the heaven she originally earned before the Jailor stole half her soul, but Pelagos insists that the things she’s done since undeath have changed the place where her soul most belongs.
Sylvanas walks off, stating that if she can lose access to heaven through her actions in undeath she can re-earn it just as easily.
An attendant quietly asks Pelagos why thousands of time-compressed years in the Maw didn’t entitle her to the afterlife she desired. Pelagos says they absolutely did, and if she had died then and there he’d have had no choice but to send her there.
But she’s not quite dead yet, and if the void scared souls coming in from Azeroth are any indication, Azeroth desperately needs any help it can get.
Sylvanas coming back because she was popular with the playerbase and they know her appearance will get a few more returning fans whether they are just Syl fans or former loyalists who find a renewed purpose to see how/why she is back.
Sylvanas returns because she knows some secret that nobody else knows and we have to bring her back to tell us how to defeat some other entity we don’t care about even though a dozen other characters could accomplish the same thing if only the dumb writers hadn’t forgotten they existed.
If Sylvanas comes back, I feel like it’ll be her true redemption arc before her final, true death, or they’ll just get her help like they did with Ysera, then she’ll return of her own will to finish saving souls from The Maw.
…because their Temu Sylvanas replacement didn’t catch on in popularity to replace her like they had hoped and Blizz is now desperate to reengage the thirsty simps hoping to bring them back to the game and buying emo waifu merchandise again.
She’s a long time historical character with a great deal of engagement and backstory. What writer doesn’t want the chance to write her back into the story? I’m curious how, but that’s why I pay some attention to story. Thighs and abs and something. But I want to see how it goes down.
I found the Anduin interplay and general remorse interesting. Start from there.
If it helps theories, Windrunner Spire and Village has continued to have ghost activity. https://media.mmo-champion.com/images/news/2025/august/WoWMidnightGamescomRevealWindrunnerSpire033.jpg
Windrunner Spire will tell us more about the history of the Windrunner family. Winged dungeon with lots of mysteries to uncover.
To give her an ending… they are gonna close up the story threads of their prominent characters I feel like. I imagine she’ll somehow connect with Alleria mentally and feel something that causes her to go back to Azeroth… or someone is there that finds her and asks for her help because the situation is dire… the sisters will have some arc and Sylvanas is gonna be portrayed as some savior. It being Quel’danas etc so it’ll go full ccircle for her.
They know it’ll ignite interest in those that are fans of sylvanas… (I personally dislike her and think she was over used)
