Wait? Is Alexandros the Saurfang in this analogy? You do realized that we had an entire Raid Boss devoted to that parallel you’re trying to sell right? And it also does not deal with all the weirdness of Alexandros: Not being a DK in any way anymore; Not taking any pride in his time as a Four Horseman; & His entire arc in the Necrolord Campaign being him taking pride in his Service to the Dead due to his son’s continued Service to the Living?
Isn’t it just as likely that what seems like a SUPER weird presence for him there is in fact … just a placeholder for some reason, or more likely just a mistake for the PTR?
I mean, the titles aren’t exactly that big a deal with Thrall and Jaina’s come and go rather arbitrarily. And again, Alexandros makes zero sense as a 4 Horseman for literally all the reasons I stated. He’s not a DK; he hates his time as a 4 Horseman; its directly opposed to his entire Arc given to him in the Necrolord Campaign. Its him just straight up shirking his duty he’s come to take obscenely seriously to replace his son … who’s Duty as a Four Horseman to the Living (which Alexandros can not preform) is what’s motivating Alexandros’ sense of duty at all?
We’re talking about Sylvanas. That’s not a question worth asking in any context. She’s just whatever she needs to be in the moment.
One moment she’s a cold, calculating mastermind and expert manipulator. Then she’s an impulsive hothead who’ll spoil her own schemes because a pointless grudge match didn’t go exactly the way she wanted.
unless KT somehow uses domination to control him again. I would imagine that KT was how Alexandros ended up in the Maw in the first place. As much as I want him to be a good guy, because he is a good guy. He was easily manipulated by Kel’thuzad in the past and we don’t know if that’s something that will factor in the raid fight, though I imagine it will.
I wonder if Shadowlands will answer my decade old interest on who Castilian was in the comics. I’m not sitting here hoping Shadowlands ties up a lot of old lore loose ends, but it would be really nice if they used that as a facet to make some of Shadowlands actually make sense in relation to the previous established lore.
Castilian was the one who smuggled the Plague/blight out of Naxxrammas and gave it to Varimathras to use at the Wrathgate. If they are villian batting Sylvanas as she’s always been evil and planned the Wrathgate they better have a good excuse as to how she subverted Varimathras., who was clearly in charge of even the Undercity in his own opinion.
Its an amazing one too. Like truly, that sort of modeling an animation work on a pre-existing BC era model really makes me hope they start bringing back some older oldies but goodies.
But Sylvanas is vain, Saurfang just wounded her pride and “yelled For the Horde!” At her. You have to admit that the “the Horde is nothing” comment came from a wounded ego in the moment. It wasn’t a calculated comment, nor does it actually reflect how she feels about the Horde.
I could choke on a pancake and say “I hate pancakes!” But still like pancakes.
People are reading way too much into that one line without context.
When you are confronted with a character who says multiple, contradictory things and is hence untrustworthy, a good backup strategy is to observe their actions instead and discard the things that they say.
Based on her actions, the prognosis for Sylvanas having motivations that are positive for literally anyone but her are “poor”
