Sylvanas and Val'kyr RP Introduction - The Nine Encounter

Sylvanas: Fools. You fight a battle you cannot win.
Bolvar: We will stop you, Sylvanas!
Sylvanas: Fordragon. A fallen king without a throne. You will answer for your defiance!
Bolvar yells: RAAAaaaarrGGHHHH!
Sylvanas: Val’kyr! You are bound to me! Strike down my foes!

Other tidbits

  • The Four Horseman enter the raid alongside Bolvar.
  • Kyra and Signe are referred to as the first line of defense.
  • Skyja was the first Valkyr to swear to the Maw.
  • Skyja is the one who calls forth the fallen Valkyr (Annhylde, Aradne, Brynja, Agatha, Arthura and Daschla) during the battle.

Quick question. Which Four Horseman? Is it still weird Alexandros taking the part of Darion, or did they adjust it?

EDIT: Also, Sylvie, dumb as hell? You are still bound to them?!! Which means that should they die, and you “die” after them … you’re still contractually trapped in the Maw? Kinda sounds like the recipe for the Jailor to get his get out of jail free card … ahh … got it. Just like the Val’kyr “took her place in hell” … he took an interest and groomed Sylvanas to take his. Nice job Big-Z, she’s literally your get out of jail free card.

holy edge lord batman these are new levels of edge.
But thats a lot of Valkyr.

It took a Night Warrior and Malfurion to take down 1 of them. How will we take down all of these Valkyr?

Does this sound like they’re putting it on to anyone else? Maybe it’s just Blizzard’s writing being garbage but it sounds very “generic hero and villain speech.”

Thanks for putting this out there.
It’s cringey and It’s so awkward I almost don’t even want to follow the rest of Sylvanas’ story.

Welcome to world of warcraft lore for the past forever.

Yeah but even by their standards it sounds very…scripted. Like they’re just hamming it up to deceive the Jailer or something.

It is very scripted.

Then again IDK how much you can blame it on the dev or resources I mean… IDK if the whole resource “thing” that wow SUDDENLY lacks resources and that is the cause of their issues, when it didnt stop their game from sucking in the past.

Ever since the devs took a new direction with Sylvanas post-WotLK (and I stopped seeing her as anything but the narrative tool), val’kyrs were the only thing that I found interesting about her story.

There were some hints that they have alterior motives. There were hints they took action in their hands and when they could, they did offer the choice to those who was raised. The devs told during 2019 blizzcon that Sylvanas does not need them anymore since there are more avalable should she need any.

So I though, what if there is more to the story that we could explore and maybe even they would stay?

Oh well. F to val’kyrs, they were almost interesting at some point, till the grabby hands did not drag them alongside the other victims of the narrative and the potential that was there.

“The greatest vrykul warrior women of their generations”
Blizz: Oh, they aren’t important, we can always make more.

It might just be placeholder (this is PTR after all) because it sounds too “Blizzard” even for Blizzard. I thought Gornur was posting a parody at first.

Edit: Oh nevermind it’s got voice acting it can’t be placeholder.

I don’t think this is some in-character scripted thing it’s just Blizzard writing super hammy dialogue like they’ve done forever.

I really hope it gets another pass if it’s not some kind of ruse. Such clunky dialogue.

I’ve seen the encounter and you kill the 2 who weren’t killed before then take down the first of the Jailer’s Valkyr who pushed the others to join her in binding themselves to Sylvanas(with Annhylde serving as their representative)!

The last of the Valkyr for us to kill and the first to join the Jailer that is Skyja.

That’s the most generic and bland opening ever.

Denathrius has more style and class with his raid opening.

So … wait … clarify this for me? Were they aligned with the Jailor before they made the deal with Sylvanas or not? Or did they really condemn themselves to eternity in a soul processing plant for no other reason than plot-convenience for Sylvanas? I need some help here Yven.

The artbook confirms they were Mawsworn sent to lure in Sylvanas since Edge of Night.

Oh thank god. At least that makes a little sense in this madness. Their deal was always way too good to be true, even for Sylvie’s plot-convenience powers. It didn’t matter if it was the Jailor, or Yogg, or just themselves … their deal with her only makes sense if they had some sort of agenda going on their end.

The fact that one of them was visibly working for the Lich King at Utgarde Keep shows that the Jailer was able to communicate with the Lich King’s Valkyr through the Helm of Domination and convert them to Mawsworn Valkyr(outwardly indistinguishable from Mawsworn Kyrian).
