I get that people want some sort of revenge for her actions up to this point, but I think anyone actually thinking we’re going to be the ones that land the final blow to her are delusional.
Shes definitely going to get a redemption, i don’t think it will be a “Hero all the time”, but more of a Dumbledore treatment. Greater Good, Ends justify the means. Just like Dumbledore, he did terrible things and made hard decisions and kept deep dark secrets, but in the end, the actions he took while maybe misguided did have to be taken, willingly or unwillingly.
Thats how I see this playing out, I think her story is about wrapped up though, just like Jaina who is now a glorified side character again sitting on her Dad’s Island, and popping in to say hey.
At this point redemption for her is pure fan service with no justifiable reason for it. There’s no brushing aside what she’s done and WHO she’s done it for (herself and no one else).
Personally I don’t want “revenge”, I just want justice, even if that means she rots in a prison cell.
It is not possible to redeems someone who has done what she did realistically but they will justify it somehow I’m sure, though it still won’t be justified in reality. Sylvanas sad, just wanted to be loved, it will be pretty basic, already got some of that between her and andy.
My guess is she will turn on the big dude and help us in the end and no one gets to kill her but herself
I don’t think Sylvanas is going to get a redemption.
We will learn her motives. The Devs will do their best to make her a sympathetic figure, someone to relate to, but then all it takes is one person to go, “yeah, but she committed genocide against the Night Elves,” and suddenly it’s impossible to sympathize for her anymore.
All that’s going to happen is we’ll see she got in over her head, misled, and at the absolute best she will take responsibility for that and get herself killed.
You’re acting as if Blizzard never done this before. She’s getting a redemption and tons of hints were dropped for awhile now (even despite how erratically and irrationally written she is). She’s getting a redemption.
After doing the blood elf heritsge armor quest and seen the little clip about her story when arthas turns her to a banshee it still made me get choked up as she really wanted to save her people at that point.
But yeah I don’t really have a whole lot of respect for her at this point, she didn’t have to do everything she did
There is NO redemption for Sylvanas, however what will most likely happen is she realizes she’s just a pawn in the jailors scheme like Sire D, and she will end up helping us beat the jailor most likely by sacrificing herself.
Go back and watch the cinematics with her and Anduin, the first one she is super confident and cocky because she feels like she’s in control and working WITH the jailor, then after talking to the jailor and realizing he doesnt care about his ally’s, she comes back to Anduin and her attitude changes because she is starting to realize she is just a pawn in the jailors scheme. eventually Anduin will win her over and she will probably expose the jailors plan and how to defeat him, which requires a sacrifice and she volunteers because she realizes she was wrong.
She can be right all she wants about how the process is flawed or wrong, that doesnt justify her killing innocent people for literally no reason other than “to prove a point”.
Just because you are right in acknowledging the problem doesnt mean your actions to come are justified or correct.
Also if you have a plan that requires you to kill off basically as many people as possible for your plan to work you should probably share what that plan is with other world leaders, otherwise you look like a psycho path, she at no point tried to explain her reasoning to anyone, if you have a morally gray plan you better be ready to explain why your doing it
If anything it’ll be more like Snape’s “redemption” where she’ll get herself killed and then legions of fans will justify all the awful things she did because she was sad and somehow a double agent. And then Anduin will name his daughter after her.
I’m talking about compleat determinism. I don’t believe the actions she did aren’t evil and requiring punishment, but rather that if she had no true choice in the matter then she is not the one responsible.
It’s like blaming a story character for doing something bad when you know the writer is the one in control.
I would love to see the situation she’s in that gave her no choice but to kill thousands of innocent lives.
Because it seemed like she did so under her own free will and in the cinematic she reacted to the night elf telling her she couldn’t kill hope. She made the choice to do that and you could tell that Nathanos was surprised when she said to burn it. meaning this wasn’t planned ahead of time and her making a decision on her own.
And this is a fantasy game… we understand there are writers behind the characters, but we talk as if they are acting under their own free will like what kind of argument is your last sentence? we cant blame sylvanas because her writer wrote her in that direction?? are you actually trolling?
Not even aligning with Satan and condeming literally everyone to actual eternal suffering is enough to get players to consistently say “yes Sylvanas is bad” and I find that incredibly funny.
