does sylvanas have any melee capability, recently she has only used her bow, even when a worgo is in melee range trying to maul her face, i could have sworn she used to have a sword before
well she has the whole banshee smoke thing were she flies around. That’s sort of melee.
Also Sylvanas’ bow can act like a sword. If you recall on her ship in the Legion opening cinematic she uses her bow to cut a strong yanking her into the air and away from one of the propellers of the Alliance ship.
she doesn’t use it that often like one, like when genn was attacking her and she simply tried to dodge his attacks and get some distance on him, i get that she is better at ranged, but imagine if a worgen is in your face trying to eat it, a melee weapon will be more useful
Being a hunter whom has died many a time to a rogue or a warrior with two-charges of well… Charge. I know from where you are coming from. It was better to have a melee weapon then relying on the inaccuracies of a range rifle or bow.
Then again Sylvanas is not a Huntard, but a seasoned Ranger. I am sure like Legolas in LoTR she can use her bow effectively at any range.
Bro, she slid in front of a mounted death knight and for some reason tried to engage him in close melee combat, per her flashback. No sane hunter I’ve seen in game has done that, in pvp or pve, in fact it’s the total opposite, disengage and stuff. I was like, yo, girl, what are you doing? And we know how well that turned out for her. I guess it’s no wonder the blood elves were a bit hesitant to turn to her again after the scourge war.
I am sure that in the inevitable Sylvanas encounter, it will be awful to be melee just like it is for 80% of raid bosses in WoW.
To be fair, the Arthas book has her NOT doing that, I questioned the cinematic, too, lmao. I think she actually 1v1s him properly (off his horse) and gives him a fight for quite a while before she goes down.
Sylvanas was trained as a Farstrider (the rangers and historicals defenders of Quel’Thalas). This fighters excels with bows, but also are trained to fight with melee weapons (swords aparently).
Also, to put things more clearly, in the comic called The Sunwell Trilogy you can see to the farstrider Halduron Brightwing wielding swords, and in the same way to the anothers farstriders they accompany him.
In the recent animation called Warbringers: Sylvanas, we can see her wielding some kind of two shorts swords before she get stabbed by Arthas.
So, the information that Blizzard give us show us that Sylvana (and any other being trained as a farstrider) are capable of melee combat.
See you guys!
And that’s why every Hunter in the game switches to a spear when an enemy get’s to close, right?
NPC Hunter or Player Hunter? I actually use an axe not a spear and prior to that it was a hulking stone-staff tablet thing I had gotten from somewhere.
Also I have to take the Warbringer animation with a grain of salt right along with the prior iteration of the Sylvanas V Arthas encounter. Both may be right but in doing so both may be wrong. More details are likely in the written version of the telling because there are no visuals to help portray what is happening. Where as the visual telling was time limited so likely cut some of the narrative.
It’s possible Sylvanas slid to a halt in front of a mounted Arthas, but is also likely she did not. Taking possible recons into account and all. What is Blizzard’s rule regarding lore? The most recent trumps pre established lore–or something to that effect. I still don’t think the battle for Silvermoon only lasted a few minutes. Warbringers shortened it a great deal.
Melee is old news. Talk about Sylvanas and Ultimate.
In game, she melees Arthas and holds her own for quite awhile in the Halls of Reflection. This is mirrored in the novel “Arthas” where she gives him a pretty good fight before dying. She does about as well against a Frostmourne-wielding Arthas as anyone does, so that indicates she is pretty handy with a blade.
But she’s a legendary archer, so it makes sense for her to prefer the bow. Plus she seems to have Green Arrow-style ammunition that can do whatever she needs it to, so that’s pretty handy.

I’m not a fan of her new Down-Special.
Stream of consciousness:
Didnt she Dual Wield Daggers in the first Battle of the Undercity?
Didnt she run out of arrows when she decided to face Arthas as melee?
She appears to be working on acquiring at least one new dagger.

I’m not a fan of her new Down-Special.

Much as I’d like see old-school Thrall because he’s iconic, I’d have to go Mekkatorque or Gallywix with their mech suits. Or maybe good old Illidan.

K. Rool’s crown beats out everything she can do from range. ezfodder for best croc.

Seems like Illidan, Maiev, or Garrosh would be pretty cool.
I can’t imagine it’d be anyone other than Thrall, Sylvanas or Illidan.
Go all the way with Arthas.
As much as I’d love to see a non-human as a Warcraft rep Arthas could make a really cool move set.
Recovery though…Frost wyrm?

Garrosh. Hands down. Iron Star final smash.
