Sylvanas abandoning the Undead Night Elves

Yeah if anything they’re the ones who did the forsaking here. I’m not sympathetic to these traitors one bit.

Kill them all.

Suffer not the heretic to live. Elune knows her own.

You would think the undead NEs would want to join Tyrande and her group and go after Sylvanas for vengeance. But instead, they’re gonna hang out with Calia and the Horde feeling sorry for themselves.

Delaryn you fought for us in life but betrayed us in undeath.

Of all the 8.3 developments, this is the one I’m the most JUST FINE™ about.

I mean—yeah, I was pretty psyched for undead kaldorei when they were first announced. The setup was so bizarre, so nonsensical. Surely they’d have to explain that nonsense, right? Right?

And once they explained that, just imagine the explosive, ridiculous drama that would just pour out of these characters—all the melodramatic BETRAYAL and ANGST and EDGE. I’d get this little morsel out of this at least, oui?

But no, there’s no explanation. And no drama. No confrontation. They’re just fodder for Calia to woobify—And for Tyrande to hate so she can be villifized for not being the ARCH-FORGIVER. Or maybe she will just FORGIB because brain failure is an airborne illness in this story.

That’s all fine.

Fine.

It would’ve been exciting if Delaryn backstabbed Sylvanas at some point, but that would’ve been to interesting I guess.

Just hope they don’t end up making an undead night elf allied race for the horde considering how messed up the lore is with those.

And while people are at it maybe keep spoilers out of the thread name to, it’s annoying to see people post a spoiler there and then have (spoilers) after it like that helps.

Voss is taking actions to see the needs of Forsaken taken care of. She brought Calia and Derek who for what it seems are being set up to be their new power couple leaders. Now suddenly she is all friends with Delaryn who is desperatly seeking someone to love her. It all just screams Undead NE Allied race for the Horde unless a new undead faction is on its way.
Either way it would be a disservice to Alliance Night Elves because on one hand our race is being given to the horde which is not cool at all and on the other hand we are given a story that does not make sense because why would these new undead NE have the need to deflect to a new faction when all their current leaders are still welcoming them with open arms? What an abysmal story and motivations Devs gave us!

Expecting cohesion from Blizzard.

Sorry dear, those days are long gone.

I don’t think they’ll be an allied race, just something for the Forsaken to use in the background like the dark rangers already have been.

BUT yeah it’s gonna be sooooooooooooooooooooo cool in an expansion or two when the Horde bumrushes the Night Elves again and Delaryn is there hacking up NEs screaming “FOR THE HORDE!!” at the top of her lungs

I can see the scenario, Delaryn with her blades dripping in NE blood, arrows all fired into families of retreating elven families and the NEW Delaryn will confront her
NE: “Why Delaryn! you where a hero to our people! you fought against our enemies in our darkest time!”

Delaryn: “Yes when the Horde marched into our lands and slaughtered our people I fought against them, but than I died as the rest our or people died under the Hordes feet, where was Elune to save us from the butchers??”

NE: “So you joined them in the wholesale slaughter of your people? The death camps? The blighting of our homes???”

and right before she shanks the new NE, Delaryn will lean down and touch her face like Sylvanas did to her and whisper “For the Horde” and run her thru

The answer to your question. Is…

Lazy storytelling by Blizzard whom are content to explain everything away with blaming Sylvanas somehow so they don’t actually have to do any development or something interesting.

“Why explain anything, when you can just blame Sylvanas?”, will be the motif from now through the next 2 expansions.

Wait wait wait wait WAIT.

So when we were wondering why the hell these Night Elves would so willingly and so happily go about siding with the people who murdered them to keep murdering their people, we were told “I’ll explain my motivations later.”

THIS is it? They just followed her because they’re angry?

FOR REAL? So literally it’s just as god-awful as we had thought from the very beginning. My god Blizzard sure knows how to rub dirt into that wound.

Yep, Elune didn’t save the Night Elves from the Horde so the risen Night Elves join the Horde. 10/10 story, just remember a group of writters came up with this idea and all went “This is fantastic”

I’m just utterly baffled…
It’s like they looked at Sylvannas’ story, said “Oh I can do that!” and then completely ignored important details, such as SHE DIDN’T WILLINGLY SERVE THE LICH KING AND TRIED TO KILL HIM AT THE EARLIEST OPPORTUNITY.
I’m convinced at this point that Blizzard just hates Night Elves. I don’t see anything but disdain towards them, especially now that they’re raid-bossing Tyrande.

I mean… I guess in a way it makes sense if you just look at the story from the Horde side as the Devs tend to do?

There’s no reason to throw salt in the wound that was the WoT to NE players by having Nathanos running around exclaiming how easily the raised NEs turn on their own kind and having Sira and Delaryn just going “YEP IM HORDE NOW” other than to show off how METAL the Horde is.

No Horde came to the Alliance this expansion, they asked us for help yeah but they didn’t just flip sides like Delaryn, Sira, all the raised Night Elves, Calia and Derek.

Man Hordes so cool even those they kill wanna get in it!

Really feels like set-up for an Allied Race to be honest. I guess the Horde just didn’t have enough nelves on it yet. Nightborne are a variation of nelf, Zandalari are everything nelf culture SHOULD have been what with the close and consistent interaction with Loa, something the nelves should’ve had with the Ancients… Even the Zandalari pride/arrogance/grandeur is something that really feels like something you could expect from the nelves.

That’s some speculation, all right. She succeeded with Summermoon, she succeeded with the refugees that stayed in Stormwind. The only ones she didn’t succeed with were, apparently, the night elves returning from the maritime trip south who didn’t see the state of Teldrassil until after they’d won a major battle in Darkshore.

More night elves for the Horde, just to spite the Alliance players who want high elves?

Sounds about right.

Dev 1: “So, the Horde asked for Nightborne, but don’t seemed thrilled with them.”
Dev 2: “Well, we gave the Horde the Zandalari, which use the Night Elf model.”
Dev 1: “Yeah, but they’re trolls, not elves.”
Dev 2: “Undead Night Elves then? They can use the exact same model.”
Dev 1: “Great idea! Night Elf skins are so dark we can probably include most of the originals too.”
Dev 3: “So does this mean we can give the Alliance High Elves?”
Dev 1 and 2: “WHO LET JERRY OUT OF THE CLOSET OF SHAME?!”

As much as I would love to have High Elves on the Alliance, I’d rather never get them if it means I have to give Night Elves to the Horde.
If that’s the case then just remove them from the Alliance already.
The Horde needed Druids? Let’s make them neutral, remove Malfurion as the first druid and give them access to Hyjal and Moonglade by removing Kaldorei claim to those zones and have them share them.
The Horde needed more zones for Balance? Let’s take Aszhara and give it to them.
The Horde needed more resources? Let’s take Ashenvale and give it to them.
The Horde needed a more ways to tag along with Wild Gods? Let’s make Cenarius and co. suddenly fall in love with Horde’s selfless acts while looking away from all the blighting and deforesting of the world.
The Horde needed more elves? Let’s kill Night elves and give it to them.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if by next expansion Elune herself looks down upon Night Elves in disappointment and chooses Nightborne as their new favored race.
