I feel like i make this post every 5 years or so… I am once again asking to be able to use the simplest of weapons in the history weapons. Swords… Or at least let me xmog them. How long has rogues had Axes??? And yet for some reason I can’t even xmog a sword… WTB Swords for shamans in shadowlands.

I think it makes shaman different that they use axes, maces, and fist weapons.
Yeah I’m cool not using swords. Never been part of our class fantasy.
2hs now… I’d kill to be able to use a 2h. Hell just make it a cosmetic thing we can mog over our duel wielding at this point

i personally would like swords to be an option and ive never understood why shamans couldn’t use a sword mages can use swords like come on

I don’t think swords are consistent with the class fantasy, which is rooted in a more primitive motif.
That’s because mages are based on the civilized study of magic and the implements of sorcery. Shaman are more primal and use weapons based on tools. Speaking of, shaman should be able to use polearms because spears are one of the earliest weapons known to thinking man (or draenei or orc).

I think restricting shamans to using axes and maces in the past made sense since they were heavily influenced by the horde aesthetic but now that more races on both sides can be shamans I think allowing shamans to use swords as well makes more sense. Especially for kul tirans.

It’s not just about the horde asthetic though… It’s more of the native asthetic with it’s basis in the elements and spiritual. Think native Americans… They never had swords in the traditional sense.
The only exception to this motiff is kultirans but I don’t want them to change it for the sake of one race.
if i could use swords my shadowhunter fantasy would be real, however i cannot so i switched to alliance to be a wildhammer, they got so many new custimization options i can be a tatted, feather earring wearing male wildhammer dwarf. works extremely well with maces so im solid. i agree with you tho shamans should use swords as well

Also lets not forget how second most famous shaman of wow lore, rhe frostwolf chieftan and AV badass used dual swords up untill… Wad it wod or legion? Or how with every xpac since tbc untill wod there was at least one enh shaman npc not only using a sword, but a 2handed one AND in most cases it was an orc.
Do you remember the TBC opening cinematic? They’re all about their maces too. Check out farseer nabundo (ps this is also what I want my drenai to look like).
This is fair… But he was always a weird one… He’s almost a hunter with his focus on wolves. Thrall is more iconic and drek is one of like 6 who uses swords.
I still think the theme in general it doesn’t fit. Kultirans being the exception…
2 handed is what most of us want… Lots of drenae shamans too… I always butcher the spelling lol
I have also made this post about getting access to swords. And most people agree but there are a few every so often that says swords do not fit the theme of being shamans. That we are tribal and can not use swords.
But I agree as I 100% believe that Thunderfury should be a shaman only weapon.

Have you looked at most of the fist weapons that we get? I can understand some of them as being tools. But really if we can use fist weapons, daggers, axes we should be able to use swords.
shadowhunters exclusively use glaives and swords (and they are the most similar to shamans) so an enhance troll using a sword is more believeable then a mace. i can never really get into rping a enhance troll shaman cause the weapons looked off to me.
Swords are also pretty primitive as is. peoples have been using large knifes and different short blades made of stone to fight longer then people fought with axes. i really dont understand where this misinformation comes from anyways.

If you don’t think fist weapons are more primal than swords I don’t know what to tell you… Yes some of them don’t look very primal but most do. The simple fact of beating someone to a pulp with your fists is more primal than any weapon.
Shadow hunters aren’t really the troll version of shamans though. They don’t use the elements. They use the loa for vodoo magic. Their actually pretty different, hence you’ll actually see some requests for it as a new class in gd. They’re pretty cool and I think they could be their own class.
Tempered steel swords are actually pretty advanced. Bows/arrows and clubs/maces were a long ways behind. Axes are more along the tool aspect of the theme.
Literally the only shaman that fits the theme of swords is kt and that’s because they don’t really fit the theme of shaman but blizzard wanted to give us another race 
so why cant use thunderfury that is elemental weapon like ragnaros mace?
Its not just an elemental weapon it has the former lord of storms imprisoned into it its legit what an enhances weapon should be
It is a sword. We can not use swords. That is the only reason. It should have been the first class exclusive weapon and gone to shamans only but no.
