Anyone switching to druid? Or have switched to druid in the past year? What’s it like? Are you happy?
I really only ever play Druid and it’s fantastic for doing nearly anything out in the open world. Instant flight form, fast water travel, stealth. For nearly everything in the game you can interact while in flight form so doing collection quests is quite a breeze just hovering above the mobs and looting.
We may not be the strongest class but I don’t do raids or mythic dungeons so it doesn’t bother me personally. I don’t need to be the top dps to be happy with my class. The world utility of the class is second to none for sure.
I’ve played druid on and off, from I can tell is that boomkin will mostly be good, bear will be good but not the best, cat will be okay but perceived as bad and resto will be amazing in there niche of mass healing.
What’s interesting is every spec revolves around some sort of Dot or Hot, so even though you have 4 specs the overall theme is the same.
IMO it’s an impeccably well designed class overall, with any major issues coming down to tuning.
I went druid this expac from healing priest didnt do much in legion cane back for bfa just a fews months ago depends on what spec you wanna play. As resto I learned very quickly that your not a reactive healer like a priest more of a proactive instead that took some time to adapt to for sure.
I’ve been a mostly druid main with some bouncing between a DK from WotlK to WoD.
I heavily second the notes about being phenomenal for world content. You’ve got capabilities for all roles and two completely different DPS specs.
I’ve honestly become dependent on the instant mounting, having to actually cast mounts feels so slow now. Plus Travel form is a 2 person mount as someone can ride the stag around which is always fun for friends, BGs, and the occasional dungeon that lets you.
I pretty much only play my Druid. It’s too annoying for me to keep up on alts.
I think Druid is the best class for me, when playing a single character.
The QoL is great. I feel bad for all the people fighting stuff on the ground while I just click on quest objectives from the air.
With all the travel in this patch it’s nice to have dreamwalk as an emergency hearthstone or a quick way to change talents/essences.
I really like being able to swap to Tank or Healer and get fast queues, or switch to Tank to solo a tough rare.
It’s frustrating getting azerite for all the specs though. I had all the best traits finally and then I got 4x 450 pieces and they all had worse traits.
But for non-azerite gear it’s nice that no matter what piece you get it will probably be useful for one of the specs.
Druid was my 7th (and last) level 120, and it turned out to be my favorite class.
Been a druid since tbc, I’ve leveled up other classes and had fun with others but druid is my main and always will be.
Ohh forgot one of the best parts! The Dreamway teleport is a amazing when doing raid or dungeon runs, since most don’t have a easy way to leave unless you waste your hearthstone. Just Teleport out of the dungeon and go about your day. If you use the teleport right after entering the the dreamway you can teleport right back out and it takes you to the enterance of the dungeon/raid if you still wanted to stay in that area.
There is only Druid. Druid is life.
I’ve loved my druid since mop where I pvped to 90. Feral felt so rewarding and topping damage and killls as feral was sick. Currently I play all specs with sets for each and love each of them. Will always be my main.
I main Feral since bearcatting through Cata, and love the flexibility. I have been a filthy casual ™ the last two expansions, but for my money, nothing beats druid.
You make an excellent point about Druids being more bang for the buck. Absolutely. I feel like it is the most rich and complete class, even with the drawbacks and things that could benefit from changing. Even with all of the flaws, Druids are well-rounded, imho.
Don’t roll a Druid. Once you do, even if the class / spec you want to play is technically better off than your preferred Druid spec, you won’t like it anymore. All 4 Druid specs are excellent right now. There are ups, there are downs, but you’ve always got at least one spec to play. The only real downside to being a Druid main is if you prefer melee and do RBGs or M+ at any serious level you’re gonna need to convince people to take you over a Moonkin.
It depends on what you want to do. If you like melee (which I assume you do, since you’re posting as DK) then Druid may not be the class for you. Blood is better than Guardian in most content and far more interactive; Guardian is pretty boring tbh, you just spam Ironfur. As for Feral, it’s fun but has been incredibly underwhelming all expansion and Blizzard didn’t do anything about it, and even if Feral wasn’t garbage, I’ve had far more fun with Unholy’s playstyle than Feral’s.
One more thing: Druid deceptively easy. What I mean by this is that it is extremely easy to pick up and play any spec and do well with it. But the skill ceiling is high; you have no idea how many times I’ve seen bad Druid players die to stupid: they don’t use their self cleanse, they dont shapeshift out of roots, they dont self heal, they don’t use their affinity abilities, etc.
Source: I swapped from Warlock to Druid main since 8.2, I also have a somewhat geared DK alt.
This is true.
It’s very easy to pick up a Druid spec and do meh with it, but there’s a lot of room for high tier play.
Bear for example is quite possibly the easiest tank to play at an acceptable skill level, but there’s multiple talent and gameplay choices that can make you stand out from the pack.
