Switching to Classic?

I’ve already played Vanilla. No reason to play classic.

It’s a lot like asking if I want to go back and replay Ultima. No. It was fun then but it wouldn’t be now.

I already played classic. I have zero desire to play classic again. Same goes for TBC. Still playing retail for now.

I actually am back in classic. I basically hate all the systems and things about retail at this point. I never thought I’d be there but here I am.

At this point, I’ve stopped logging on with the rare exception of my guild trying to put stuff together with the folks we have left. Otherwise, I’m just playing other games. No interest in Classic. Interest in Retail is waning.

I’d like to lvl my druid and get ready for tbc.

I really have to work up to it and be in the right frame of mind to tolerate that painful leveling process

And fully rested

But not leaving retail, waiting for 9.1 mostly

As many others I can play both and Diablo as well

I was looking for a whole other game before they announced TBC classic. That gets me hopeful for Wrath Classic. It would be crazy of them not to go there.

I don’t enjoy Shadowlands at all, and I don’t really have any interest in vanilla end game. But, I have fond memories of the TBC raids and I really like classic leveling, so that’s where I am.

Ion and his current team don’t seem to have a good understanding of what brought people into this game, and kept people here this long. Their direction right now seems to be to water down every part of this great game that isn’t the current raid or keystone dungeons.

Classic still feels like an RPG.

That was my stance in BFA too. But, turns out I was wrong. There’s something great about starting everything all over again, even if I played it when it was current.

The immersion is oddly still there for me, and I’m not generally a nostalgic person. When Classic was announced, I dabbled with it, but I was like “nah. This isn’t for me anymore.”

But after playing Shadowlands, and realizing that retail is being designed for a crowd that doesn’t include me anymore, I gave it another go, and I’m quite satisfied with it for now.

If FFXIV ever reaches a similar level of polish that WoW has, I’ll probably just head there and stay there though.

I canceled my account. If I play at all, I’ll go back to the private server I played on (Wrath server).

If Classic didn’t take weeks of my time to level up a character I’d switch. Retail is better for gamers like myself who only get a few hours a day if they are lucky.

Is it grindy? yeah, most games are
do they try to sell us crap? all games do now, Wow is just getting onboard with every other company now
Is the community sometimes toxic? It’s the players not the game, play literally any other online multiplayer

I play because I’ve got friends that do, PVE content are lots of fun and even PVP now that it’s been improved.

My best memories of Vanilla are all the “first time” experiences.

For example, the first rare I encountered was Hogger. It was a huge effort to for my friends and I to down him. The feeling of accomplishment was amazing.

When I tried to play classic and got to Hogger I knew exactly where he was and how to kill him. Any sense of accomplishment was missing. I did it with strangers not friends. The entire experience was the opposite of vanilla. That was the last I played classic.

To each his own but there is nothing in Classic for me. At least in retail I’m seeing and doing new things.

Old content isn’t going to get my $15 a month.
Shadowlands is bad.
I’m unsubbed. Will come back at the end to see how the story played out.
The next expac will need to be under new leadership to get me to buy it.

That’s fair.

I started back up as Alliance as well, because that’s what I played in Vanilla. Didn’t really click with me.

This time I went horde, as I never played Horde until I came back late Cataclysm. All my friends were ally, battle.net wasn’t a thing, so I never got to experience this.

So it’s new to me in a lot of ways, which helps. But I’m also someone who really enjoys leveling in a RPG, and that’s arguably the best feature about the classic games.

Well said. this is more or less it exactly for me too. I had the most fun playing Vanilla and TBC back when it was current content. but I enjoyed it because I was learning the game as I was playing it and the majority of players were in the same boat. Aside from maybe Thottbot there werent’ nearly as many sites or addons out there that told us exactly how to play the game. There was a bit more freedom in being ignorant and doing things your own way. Now it doesn’t matter if it’s Classic or Retail, everyone is the same cookie cutter spec, follows the same guides, min/max spell rotations and what not.

Probably, TBC was a great time.

Given how boring classic is I’ll stick with retail.

Player count speaks for itself lolol.

Classic of any form is best dabbled in so long as the tone and norms over there are set by meta junkies with no concept of diminishing returns.

Enjoying BFA for the moment.
Classic is NOTHING like it actually was.

Yeah, I tried it like a lot of people did, but that kind of playstyle is over now.

Because of the lack of stuff to currently do, I did try out classic. I made it to lvl 8. So stupid and boring. As a mage, was standing waiting for my mana to regenerate after every single fight. Had to collect x amount of stuff from enemy and the drop rate was like 50%.

I don’t know how anyone can find that entertaining. Maybe when it first came out, being all new and different but I couldn’t take it and I don’t even want to think about the already hours wasted (on quests I have done in retail I have done many times) and if I would level up to max, the serious amount of a time sink to do so.

Kudos for those who love the game, not for me.

For me Classic works mainly as an excuse to spend some atmospheric zen time in the various environments of Azeroth. Not the most exciting thing, on occasion that’s what’s called for.

Modern WoW can kinda fill this purpose, but modern class gameplay is a lot more “noisy” and half of Azeroth is wrecked thanks to Cata which makes for a less pleasant experience.
