We still need more context regarding the interview but this mount shouldn’t be different, Devs bring all TCG mounts back, Even better after the prime promotion ends move those mounts to the BMAH, improve that feature.
This doesn’t seem like an unreasonable decision.
Also the collector melties in the various Discords are entertaining.
I’ve the mount and I’d like to see it back, it wasn’t available in all regions and it was cloned, there’s not a difference between it and the other mounts being provided by Prime promotion.
I thought that they had a promo for the regions who missed out. 12 month sub or something.
Not, for example, I’m from LATAM, WoW cards weren’t a big hit here and We’re consider part of America region, I got most mounts during WoD since the prices were low and I hear a lot about duplicate codes and mounts, during WoD the swift only cost 1million top.
Oh, that’s different. I thought you were talking about regions who had actually never had access to them.
Well, technically a lot of countries never had access to them, its the same issue, it was a really exclusive item due to the acquisition power of some individuals/regions, besides that then there’s the rumor about duplicating items due to bugs…
I don’t like the prime method but I’d like to see these items back in the game.
Agreed.
Restricting things like this is always so sad to see.
Here’s the thing;
I think Blizzard needs to really huddle up and decide on a SINGULAR vision for the game, and how it’s going to deal with content in regards to “time-limits”.
In this regard, TCG items are really no different then “Cutting Edge” mounts, or Challenge Mode armor and weapons, or even the old Scourge Invasion stuff. Hell, even Elite PvP armor and seasonal mounts fit in the conversation.
I think the frustration people are experience, on both sides of this issue, is just the feeling of inconsistency. Some items are removed, while others are not. And some are brought back, while again, others are not.
I mean, speaking purely for myself, I’ve always felt it kind of odd that these “Cutting Edge” mounts were added quite late into the game’s lifespan (MoP was the first, I believe, with the Kor’kron Wolf?), when I had been a hardcore raider way back in Wrath. Why didn’t I get a cool reward, but later players did?
It just kinda paints the feeling of these things being decided at a whim.
Which, just to be open on my own view, I would be super bummed if the Spectral Tiger was added back to the game, because it was a big deal getting one back in the day, and we were led to believe they would ONLY come from the TCG. Which was also the messaging, we were told it would be TCG-exclusive, so there’s also the added nuance of “if Blizzard makes a promise, are they expected to keep it even years later?”
Like I said, it’s definitely a bigger conversation that needs to be happening, and whatever the decision on that is, I think there should be a level of consistency moving forward.
If anything they should’ve drawn the line at mounts and only done toys, tabards and removed shop stuff.
But that still exists for players in the memories and written lore, journals, blogs, vlogs, etc.
Adding the mounts doesn’t erase those past experiences.
Now the mount means nothing but “this person has thousands of dollars to blow on a game”.
I’d like to think it was actually special, but it just isn’t. It wasn’t even “earned” like CE mounts.
I’ve discussed this before with people so I’m bringing my thoughts here.
There are three factors to why the Spectral Tiger should be brought back while keeping the factors that make it a prestige item in mind.
- When it first came into print. 2. How rare it was to even pull the card. 3. The fact that, in its prime, it was the only unique spectral mount for a good while.
Spectral Tiger is practically the King of TCG Loot given how rare it was compared to others to pull from the packs it came in.
While I own the non-epic version (pulled it from a landros loot box some ten years ago) I do want them to bring it back in some form for other people to collect it. But simply giving it away right out of the gate when they’ve been slowly giving other TCG mounts and items away seems off putting. I would rather see some work and thought put into how its re-released to the masses of waiting players than to simply say “Hey watch 4 hours of anyone playing WoW and it’s yours!”
Considering how terrible it looks, I still don’t get why it gets to be such the special snowflake
Was duped more than any other TCG, I assume anyway considering it certainty seems to be strangely common for how “rare” its supposed to be
It was duped a lot in WoD via the glitch you mentioned which is why you see it more often than not in game. But before this it was a very rare mount to have.
You also have to consider that it was also duplicated via bugs during previous expansions.
Agree, also these promotions on twitch prime should be move to the BMAH, otherwise; it’s the same again for new/ returning players that missed the promotion. Same for other promotions like the mount from playing a DK in classic, it was removed for not reason at all…IMO.
Which is unfortunate and the dupes should have been removed from people who did it/received a dupe. But like my post above, Pulling the actual card was very rare.
This is where I disagree. BMAH should be used for things only available within the game itself, not to get discontinued items like TCG. I also don’t thinkt he BMAH should include no longer obtainable items and that those should, in some way shape or form, be brought back for a limited time grab.
There is no work and thought put into slapping something on the BMAH. It’s just there. And will likely go for gold cap and remain rare for people to obtain. I’d rather more people have it than very few.
So that special aspect doesn’t exist in the same magnitude it did before
Mays well treat it like all the other mounts that were duped
I am not against people owning rare things as per my initial post in this thread. But doing it through means not intended I do not like.
Well BMAH was the original source for some TCG items and removed items, the problem is that the BMAH needs a revamp too, instead of 3-4 items per day, it should have at least 8-10 items like the trading post but daily besides that all the Ordos items should be removed since the Boss is still available, just add the legendarie cloak questline for players that didn’t play MoP and remove the items that you can get in game via currency like the pets from Argent Tournament, since you can still grind for those and it’s deterministic compared to other rare items that are pure RNG. the whole BMAH should be an accessible gold sink for everyone not a gold cap feature as a lot of player perceive it.
On this I can agree. In this sense rare/discontinued items should be up more often than they are at this time. Swift Zulian Tiger, Plagued Protodrake. These need to make just as many appearances as any of the other common items you find for sale. The BMAH is meant as a gold sink and people will continue to save gold when there’s nothing they want on the BMAH up at the time they look.
While I think what they’re doing with Twitch and Amazon Prime drops is good, I do think that maybe we can compromise and put those items that were up for drops initially on the BMAH when their drop on twitch/amazon are over.
