SV needs another button

I sware im sitting here waiting for buttons to come off cd via auto attacking more than assassination rogues….It needs another rotational button….

Also the amount of requirements for my pet to be within range of me when im running through a dungeons and outdoor content and it waddles out of range of my abilities sometimes feels so awkward and clunky…..

Not to flame but if you’re having long periods of downtime where you only auto attack you’re playing massively wrong, especially as DW PL

You should have very little downtime as SV. How are you playing?

Probably over exaggerating and wanted to describe it as a worse feeling assa rogue…but its still feels like its missing something in its rotation…

Edit there is definitely downtime on long duration boss fights. even if its waiting on a kill command charge. Way more noticable of SV than ASSA which is designed around pooling.

I’m not really sure what an extra button would do though. Just exist to push it in the 2 seconds downtime every few minutes?

maybe a ability that is usable like chomp is for feral for downtime if your waiting on energy from a kill command or just something else to do…idk

I’d recommend playing Pack Leader if you’re seeing much downtime to warrant a button for it. I’m just really not sure a button would solve that

are you completely ignoring bomb?

Takedown range needs to be increased and give me a reason to use Flamefang Pitch. Also allow me to tar trap + Flamefang someone to ashes.

Apex talents should be changed to dual weld - sawed off shotguns.

If anything, the problem I’m feeling with Survival is that it seems to lack pooling apart from just whether we have Takedown / Boomstick or not. There’s just nothing interestingly dynamic to the KC-spend-spend-KC-spend-spend spam of the spec, nothing to look forward to than Boomstick/Takedown coming back off CD, with barely even any dopamine from that for their lack of interaction with anything but Mongoose Fury (and talent-dependently even then).

@OP
It’s nigh impossible to run out of Focus as long as you’re not overcapping WFB charges. The 20 Focus saved per WFB GCD really is enough to see you through, especially as Pack Leader. With Shrapnel Bomb and Blood seeker, it gets even more lenient (or, less generously, of a non-mechanic, made redundant waste by Tip of the Spear).

Yeah, it’s bizarre that they cut so much. No more Kill Shot, No more Explosive Shot. No more Explosive Trap. Feels really bad, like we’re missing some key damage options, whilst also losing utility.

I’m just not really sure where a new damage option would fit into the already full rotation, or what sort of niche it would fill

I think hatchet toss could easily become the new kill shot. Just massively increase it’s damage when the target is below 25% health.

Taking chakram off takedown flip over should be swell.

That, plus giving us harpoon reset back wild be great.

imo i think instead of adding more buttons on top of the current build, they could add talents that involve procs or something. like boomstick having a choice node with a shorter cd skill or something with resets. or one path for more frequent bombs/boomstick and another for more frequent takedowns.

We have literally just 3 rotational keys —Raptor, Bomb, and Kill Command— and just 5 combat buttons total (at least until Hogstrider actually hits for enough to be worthwhile), down from the 11–12 of Dragonflight (which included also Kill Shot, Explosive Shot, Carve/Butchery, Flanking Strike, Serpent Sting, Death Chakrams, and Harpoon being obligatory to weave occasionally via ToE being so accessible).

We can fit an additional button.

I would, for instance, far rather have a strong Carve/Butchery that can be given an extra charge, stacking up to 3, via our Apex Talent, than just have that button auto-swap so that we can’t bank the AoE without stopping our filler ST damage.

For mere button swaps, though… I would far rather have Serpent Sting than Hatchet Toss, but I’d also be fine with the Legion version of it (especially if it actually fired 3 separately aimable attacks along the sub-GCD channel, so that we could swap targets about for Misdirect gathers or open world play, grabbing a split 3 at a time).

well all there is to do atm is m0 tour and delves, and i didn’t feel like i was missing much there. in that content i would say boomstick feels frequent enough and takedown cd doesn’t feel that long compared to other specs i’ve tried. i’d really just like some variety in the tree that’s not boring passive bleeds or flamefang (delete it)

Boomstick feels a lot better in AoE because of the CDR WFB gives it, I think the rotation will feel a bit more dull in ST/raid when Boomstick is a static 45sec CD

a proc would be fine to add. e.g….take the weak and ineffective hogstrider from pack leader, make it baseline, and juice up the damage amp. then we have a glowy button to play around

however, this proc would probably need to interact with dire summons / some special SAO interaction, or else the GCD economy would probably push it to irrelevance

Either wrong spec or doing rotation wrong. My guess is playing pack leader without dw daggers. It’s def possible to run into this issue with Survival and you can def make the argument we shouldn’t have to play a specific way to work correctly BUT, these issues are only if you are doing things a bit incorrectly.

i kinda think dire summons should just be changed lol
