SV Hunter vs WW Monk for all content

Which do you reckon?

Solo/Delves/PvP/Dungeons/Raids

WW monk has far superior self-sustain, mobility, and utility. SV hunter is just a big bucket full of jank.

Balancing happens in the last minute, so play whichever feels better to you.

I like the mobility of WW monk.

WW monk for sure.

While I do think the current version of survival is the best it’s been since becoming a melee spec, the whole concept is still fundamentally a mess. Bombs and explosives are so obviously meant for a ranged character. And it doesn’t even slightly mesh with the hero talent options.

Monk will be easier.

SV has cooler abilities and sound effects.

Until you realize surv has all of that combined with a pet to tank and heroism, misdirect, soothe. Burst aoe and rotation doesn’t change between single target and aoe. Then an ability to turn your raptor strikes into range so you can kite and/or keep up damage while moving out of mechanics

hunter has lust.

ww has to find groups that already have BREZes/lust

could be a thing to consider.

I’d go Monk between the two. Gives you flexibility of other roles for easy heroic gear from weeklies.

And one self-heal on how long of a cooldown? Yep, great self-sustain.

I feel like WW is much more smooth and enjoyable. I want to like Survival but it just feels clunky and clumsy.

WW monk hands down.

Don’t really need heals with the defensives and damage now do ya?
And if its pve, don’t stand in fire and your pet will do everything.

Don’t need heals if you never take damage lol.

Until something like zeks lair and your pet gets 1 shot and you cant use dps abilities tied to the pet.

Not agreeing or disagreeing, just taking the opportunity to grumble about one shots on pets and dps getting jacked.

1 button fixes that lol.
Turn off growl.

You are talking to a surv hunter that killed ?? btw :joy:

A part of my likes monk because there’s an option to switch to other specs, but I often hate the process/gearing involved with needing to switch between various specs (which I typically only do to shorten queue times).

And having longer queue times actually gives me an opportunity to do other things more easily, like open-world content or stuff outside of WoW while I wait for queues to pop.

Survival is really, really fun. And windwalker self-healing still feels like it heals like a wet noodle.

I play both, personally I’d actually lean towards Survival.

Monks, you need to rely on your mobility for the most part.

Better self-heals than Hunter, but you’ll be taking more damage anyway.

Hunters just have a better kit for soloing stuff in the world.

My Monk, I tend to tank more on him as BrM, as I’ve already got a Surv Hunter I play a good amount.

I still play WW in PvP.

To add to your point about other specs they’re (attempting to) swap WW to a Haste primary/Mastery secondary based spec in season 2 (35% more gains from mastery).

This essentially puts it at the opposite stat scaling to say Brewmaster which is a Vers=Crit>Mastery>>>Haste class.

While it probably won’t matter for TW or delves I can see it ‘feeling bad’ to play other specs.

Nothing says “survival” like using grenades in melee range.

That’s why you have your pet jump on the grenade, and rez them afterwards. :stuck_out_tongue:

Surv Hunters should get Corpse Explosion, honestly.
