What do you think of allowing SV Hunters to equip a 2-hander melee weapon and a bow/gun/crossbow in the ranged slot? Make that a unique thing for the spec, rather than just bringing out a generic vanilla looking crossbow for abilities like Serpent Sting and the new Arcane Shot in SL, which actually requires a ranged weapon.
it’d be a better idea to just have a glyph like demo locks have rather than make survival farm 2 weapons to be effective. keep in mind, if you can equip a piece, it adds stats which means the ranged weapon becomes a stat stick and having a bad weapon will lower your dps.
Personally, I wish they’d go back to all hunters being able to equip melee and ranged weapons. Didn’t make sense to take that away in the 1st place.
I do think bringing back the additional weapon slots for some classes makes sense. Warriors and hunter are prime examples. I would also prefer that survival could 2h or duelweild. Personally I would have no issue with farming up 3 weapons.
Historically, Hunters have attacked from range unless a foe came within melee. At that point, you were mainly using Wing Clip to get back out to range. When ranged weapon minimum range was removed there was no longer any reason for melee weapons or attacks.
I miss having melee and ranged weapons as a hunter. I think it would be great if they would bring that back to hunters. Some people just say “oh but now I have to get more items to gear” but to me, it’s just another part of the journey.
for PvP, I hate being tied to concussive shot. I miss being ranged, and when someone gets close I can Wing clip them. Just another tool in the bag baby.
I mean hunters were farming multiple weapons for years before and had no issues. Now with additional loot rng like forging and corruption gone, it will be even easier to get BiS for both.
Thank you for the history lesson, it’s not like I haven’t played a hunter since Vanilla or anything.
Then why can’t you understand that Hunters don’t need melee weapons anymore?
Everything is hunter loot again!
So, your assertion is that a class that always had the ability to equip melee weapons and used melee weapons at melee and ranged at ranged, making them the most unique class in the game, that it made sense just to arbitrarily remove their melee abilities and ability to wield melee weapons?
Well, as it turns out, removing melee from hunters and making ranged weapons work in melee removed the justification for ranged to hit harder, because it removed a large weakness of the class. So you can say they don’t /need/ melee all you want, doesn’t mean that I would not have personally preferred them to not do that.
But hey, continue to be condescending.
Except mages, druids, and warlocks were always able to use their ranged abilities within melee range. Anyways, hunter melee abilities sucked: you used them when you had to, but there’s a reason wing clip was almost always cast at the same time as disengage.
Yeah, but they had a weakness originally in the push back. Used to be if you were being hit while trying to cast a spell it would take longer to cast said spell. They also wear lighter armor and were generally less survivable then hunters.
We used melee weapons because if we didn’t once a melee got within melee range of us the only thing hurting them would be the pet. Needless to say, that would give a distinct advantage to melee classes when facing a hunter. Once they removed the minimum range, there was no longer a need for melee abilities as we could now use our better attacks at melee range. Not to mention the fact that our melee abilities were really weak anyway.
And you don’t think it comes from the fact that BM hunter (and even the whole class in MoP) can use it’s whole rotation from 40 yards away while moving? Caster classes hit harder because they have to stand still (not to mention that they cause magic damage rather than physical).
Preference is one thing. If you liked having the ability to melee in addition to ranged based on where an enemy was at, fine. Saying you don’t understand why is another issue.
Then don’t come back at me with:
That is about as condescending as it gets.
I’d probably go for secondary weapon slots that don’t affect your stats. Since you mentioned warriors, warriors could be given a slot for ranged weaponry, but weapons equipped on that slot do not count towards overall stats and is only for appearances. It’d clash with the transmog system, but I’m not keen on the idea of having to farm multiple weapons.
They actually use to could carry both Melee and bow for close attacks when the snaky got near
The website literally warns you when you try to post that the thread is old…
This website? Edit: Not in this instance./for me.
This IS about the oldest thread I’ve ever seen active.
Yes if you go to a thread where the last post was a long time ago you get a warning that looks like this:
So Cannibals must have seen that and said “nah I will post in a thread that’s 3 years old”.
