Lookin at the ptr notes on WoWhead, mages are finally getting buffed. thats cool but how about buffing some other specs too instead leaving them in the dust.(take the hint Blizzard.)

Buff Survival Vunter!

Maybe what sv really needs is raid-wide utility spell to bring to the table that is so good that they become desirable to be invited into groups.

Survival’s performance is fine now and is expected to be good in 10.1. Why should it need buffs?

Buffs? They just nerfed it a week and a half ago. SV isn’t as bad as people like to claim. My hunter and warlock pull similar DPS numbers.

Some specs get less attention than others. Survival is one of those specs. There needs to be a lot more players complaining about Survival in Raids and M+ before Blizzard actually does anything to change them.

SV is kind of where Ret paladin was pre-rework, with mediocre damage and poor survivability. But it’s way less popular than Ret paladin, and has always been less popular when it wasn’t overwhelmingly OP (like in SL).

It has “survival” in the name, it should be surviving. Give it enough leech to make Ret jealous.

I think it might actually be the least survivable spec in the game? Not sure what else really competes with it. There’s Marksman and BM, but at least those are ranged specs so they can avoid certain things easier.

Sv is real good ST now with their set, in a raid with a lot of aoe and cleave. But for some reason they gave them a set in 10.1 focussing on aoe with a raid that is a lot of ST. That’s the problem

If I’m not mistaken, the nerf to Mongoose Bite will smooth itself out on May 2nd. It got reduced by 10%, but the patch is buffing SV’s universal damage “aura” by ~8%.

And then there’s going to be the long-term effects when we invest our talents in Bomb stocks for our Bomberman tier bonus.

I want to say you were reading the nerfs to the s1 2p bonus.

From ppl I talked to that play SV, the tier isn’t that great because bombs aren’t that great. They were just propped up by double Legos and the set bonus in SL. They need to buff bombs pretty much

WFB doesn’t scale with mastery. It should.

Hello,

We’re excited to let players know of an upcoming change.

We’ll be defining the clarity and color saturation of the Suvival specialization icon.

This has been on our radar for awhile, after many lunches and data analytics. We feel that this will reinforce a positive and compelling gameplay loop.

Looking forward to your feedback as you venture forth into Abberrus and beyond!

Me and guildie who plays sv talked about sv today just think tanking and agreed that sv needs an identity.

I suggested that sustain st would be great. I pitched that harpoon is a cool looking ability, make it more important. What if harpoon latched you to your target and you would always be within 5 yd range, like a mix of the shaman totem that traps you and old static cling. Would even come with a cool animation of a harpoon sticking through the target and you tied to it. So for PVE you would have high uptime and PVP high pressure, and for SV disengage would undo the harpoon.

Then I pitched a set focused on harpoon taking philosophical ideas from how they have based sets around talents this tier.

2p: harpoon dmg increased by X%, now bleeds target for X dmg every 2 sec for the duration harpoon is lodged in the target.

4p: harpoon bleed damage now leaves a stacking debuff on your main target everytime it ticks, upto 10 stack. When you disengage from the target your harpoon rips away dealing X damage per stack accumulated. When you carve/butcher, your next harpoon will hit up to 8 secondary targets for it’s initial damage and leave a bleed dealing X damage every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. Thes effect can only be done every 10 sec

Just some fun ideas cuz we both agreed that SV has some of coolest abilities even if they aren’t the best performing

Probably another 6 years, I reckon ol’ chap. :expressionless: :face_with_raised_eyebrow: :smirk:

SV had a good identity and was widely enjoyed when it was a ranged spec. That was ruined when they made it melee. If they want SV to be taken seriously by Hunters they should make it ranged again. Damage tuning is not the issue.

It’s harsh and people will complain when it’s said but it’s the truth and Survival’s consistent unpopularity is evidence for it.

SV back then was marksman with LnL and explosive shot, which marksman has now

Thanks for the bad take. I guess Destruction is just Affliction with Chaos Bolt and Arms is just Fury with Rend?

Survival had a focus on special munitions and sustained damage while MM was about long-range physical damage sniping with high burst. It was a good way to make 2 distinct ranged specs that were relevant and useful to the class. Survival has been ridden with fundamental issues since becoming melee, so evidently that was a stupid idea. You’re here whining about SV having no identity yet you refuse to admit the melee rework is the problem. Delusional.
