Bloodseeker: You and your pet gain 10% attack speed for every bleeding enemy within 12 yds.
Don’t need to cast KC to do bleeds, hmm.
Explosives Expert: 5/10% buff to Explosive Shot and WFB.
Wildfire Arsenal: WFB deals 8% additional damage.
Less reliance on white hits with a 2Her and Coordinated Assault.
Lunar Storm: Resets the cooldown on WFB every 30 sec.
More WFB…
2 pc: When Lunar Storm fades, gain the Boon of Elune, causing your next 2 Wildfire Bombs to deal Arcane damage and have their damage increased by 60%.
4 pc: Sentinel’s damage is increased by 25%. Abilities that consume the Boon of Elune are guaranteed to apply 2 stack of Sentinel.
Funny how we were just talking about SV and how it can’t go petless for “muh identuhdee”. On the Sentinel side of things, I’m not seeing a lot of pet damage. I’m not even seeing a lot of melee-specific changes except for Fury. I’m seeing a lot of WFB changes…
Could be worth checking out.
We’ll still need to lug a 2Her to do KShot and to pop on CA, but I’m starting to see pets being a lot less essential to the plan for Sentinel SVs.
This could be a sign of things to come for Midnight. It looks like SV is on its way of being a petless-optional melee-capable ranged DPS. It’s getting rid of the inferior bleed system that nobody really cared about in the face of the . If it’s powerful enough, it could eclipse having a pet out ergo simplifying the rotation and focusing on what actually does the most damage.
I’m sure I can make time to look at it when 11.2 goes live.
I’ll have to see what’s new about that 4-pc since you mentioned.
Sentinel Survival. Remember, we were told/promised(crosses fingers behind back) that the hero classes are evergreen. Pack Leader, because obvious, will be petted and may still be melee oriented.
WFB only cost 10 focus, and Explosive Shot 15. Out of a pool of 100 for non-gnomes, you don’t really need a focus generator to use the most powerful abilities. Especially with high Haste which increases Haste regen.
It’ll still depend on how much proportion WFB does after 11.2. I will take the time outside Classic Mists to look into it.
I was watching Bansheerz yesterday and he said that pack leader survival is extremely good. He said that the tier set stampede was doing 20% of his DPS. Let’s hope that this does not get nerfed to the ground.
They don’t seem to know what to do with survival, it’s a whole bunch of things. It’s a melee class that half of its attacks are ranged but it also has a pet, the rotation isn’t set and depends heavy on what procs you get. Not even going to mention that you use 4 different weapons at the same time with Two hander, crossbow, gun, bombs. Personally I feel it could benefit from a bit more focus on a few areas rather than the cluster**** it is now.
I believe my point was that the survival hunter has ALL of those aspects rolled into one spec, naming other specs it shares mechanics with only proves my point that it isn’t focused enough in any area for there to be any polish.
But that’s not a point at all? You’re upset that it’s a melee dps with ranged abilities when that’s not unique. You’re upset it’s a melee DPS with ranged abilities that also has a pet, when that’s not unique at all, either.
It has plenty of polish.
this especially makes me question what you’re talking about
this also sticks out as a weird thing to be upset about when the spec’s description is an “Adaptive Ranger”. Are you mad that Paladins use holy magic, heavy armor, 2h weapons, but also throw hammers and swords at enemies?
I’m not the first one to say this, but it has always been a false dichotomy. Think Princess Bride Battle of the Wits. We think that just because Survival says “melee damage” on the tooltip, that it best uses a 2Her, we FALSELY ASSUME it’s NOT actually a FAR GREATER RANGED DPS. We also falsely assumed it automatically granted a slot in a raid or M+ over a ranged. We also falsely assumed, some, that it may even evolve into a tanking role.
It’s more correct to say that SV is a RDPS that prefers a 2Her and has melee abilities in its toolkit, and less correct to say the contrary.
The potentiality and probability is there, and I have said it before that RSV has won the war, and why a certain goblin Hunter hailing from Barthilas or Frostmourne is not presently fighting that good fight today. Since Legion, a lot of Sicilians drunk the iocaine believing this was a genuinely serious and viably competitive MDPS. By some Athenean fluke, Bicmex survived.
Here’s another iocaine trick: historically for almost all the part since Legion, both the melee and the ranged of SV sucked. The ranged did not EVER get as good as MM(what good that was) and the melee was practically at the bottom of the totem pole.
Edit: The greatest Hunters this community absolutely despises and would want their vacations like birthday presents, like Elon Musk and the late Steve Jobs, were lateral outside-the-box thinkers. They don’t look at a spec at face value and by the sum of its parts. That’s the difference among World’s Fastest Oneshots and The Jackal of Stormwind vs. many others. They look at what a Hunter spec CAN do, not what it’s DESIGNED to do. They look at how it WINS, not how it GOES ALONG TO GET ALONG.
Like all the deleted Sicilians before you, you think the poison is only in one place. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the endgames that matter or don’t matter. It’s been said time and time again post-Leg is only as good as it is at ranged, particularly by WFB.
We surrender to our preconceived notions, we think that when we’re told it’s melee, it does a, b, and c when we don’t know that it can also do d, e, and f and that def > abc.
It was never about whether SV is ranged or melee; that was never the correct argument. It was always what it CAN do as either and both.
But now also, for the first time I can remember since who knows how long, (Sentinel) SV now stands a chance at viably going petless.
“Walk on then, citizen.” --unnamed Leg XIII Gemini centurion to Titus Pullo.
I wish I could show you that Rome HBO clip because that’s my attitude about it. Because no, we don’t really need Focus, we don’t need Tips. We don’t need to do what you call damage.
I’m sure you’ll press complaint to Blizz, and if they fall for it like they have reliably done, will listen to your token minority voice. Otherwise, this is happening, 11.2 will see WFBing and Explosive Shotting Sentinels, with or without pet.
This is happening. Make your peace and do what you will. It’s just a crying shame WPvP doesn’t actually exist enough to see it in its glory, but you just make it sound more and more you don’t want to be a SV Hunter anymore, main or alt.
Well dude, that’s a you-problem unless you can prove you’re under some duress. Nobody’s asking you to play it, let alone like it.
Of course, if you’re that bitter, get out of Retail. Play Classic Era or another MMO. Don’t waste your time and others’ here. It’s obvious Blizz is not giving more of what you want, because it seems every time they try to please a few, they just agitate and anger the silent masses. That just makes you the fool when other Hunters move on with it and achieve more than you.
We were all there once, with our empty I’ll-play-something-else’s. Plenty of us have, and do.
Been saying this for a while. Lean into the spear side of the Survival fantasy with throwing spears. There’s already a spear throw animation in game with harpoon.
if you’re okay doing less damage to go petless you can literally do that right now, nobody is stopping you from playing sub optimally, you don’t have to wait. you can even equip a bow and live out your wildest fantasies
giving up a pet and not being in melee means you get weaker bombs and far, far less frequent bombs. again, you can do this right now. nobody is stopping you.
