Suspended: That's a bit ridiculous

Actually, that’s not the meaning I took from it at all. As an anime fan, I read “bish” in that sense, which is short for “bishonen”.

From Urban Dictionary, under “bishounen”:

Literally means “pretty boy,” as in an attractive member of the male gender. Also spelled “bishonen,” and sometimes shortened to “bish” and “bishie/bishy.” It is a Japanese word, adopted by female anime fans in the rest of the world to denote any male anime, manga, or video game character they happen to find good looking.

Which I would think is a bit odd for a fox, but that’s a completely different topic.

So not everyone is reading it the way you are. Read it as it’s actually written instead of assuming a misspell and it’s not offensive at all.

It doesn’t matter how any of us would take it, to be bluntly honest. You see it as that, OP supposedly used it as a play on their name, I see it as an attempt around a vulgarity that likens to a female dog.

But the only ones whose opinions matter in this regard are the staff at Blizzard. It’s their rules and their rulings. Nothing else matters.

Doesn’t matter what we think. Only what Blizzard thinks matters.

It’s blatantly obvious what the intent was. The fact that a random, far-out anime reference exists does not justify its use. Considering the first part of the name, you can tell it isn’t referring to anime. Phonetically, it sounds like an inappropriate name, and thus it was reported as such. That you think it means something else does not make it acceptable.

In anime circles, “bish” is neither a random nor far-out reference. And while, no, it doesn’t matter what any of us think, I’m just pointing out everyone assuming the worst from everything gets annoying.

When the first part of the name is “Drunk”, it’s clearly not an anime reference at all. It doesn’t matter what it means in anime circles - it may be appropriate there, but according to Blizzard it is not acceptable here because it’s a play on a term for a female dog. And while I acknowledge you want to support the OP, the fact that this reference exists does not make the use of the name acceptable. This is not ‘assumption’, this is ‘fact’.

Furthermore, that Orlyia stated that

only further indicates a history of inappropriate name usage and failure to learn what is or is not acceptable in a naming convention.

Again, I understand it has a use in anime circles and whatnot - but that does not make it acceptable here.

It probably wouldn’t have been so bad if the OP hadn’t tried so hard to validate it even as he agreed it was inappropriate. Also for the record - I too enjoy anime and have for many a year and still I deviated to the vulgar leaning rather than bishounen. There will always be cases of how we each perceive things differently, but as we have both said now, it doesn’t matter what we either think.
