Survival suggestions mega thread

Most of the time it’s just the perfect range to get back on that pesky mage with all his slows and novas and blinks
I didn’t say it was best, I said it has its uses

But we are getting sidetracked. Let us return back to the topic.
I myself would like to change killcommand to only killcommand if you yourself are not in range of the enemy.
(You and pet in melee range? You hit. You are away from enemy? It works like it does now.
You in melee range, but not pet? You hit.)

And maybe boost serpent sting so it would become worth pressing during mongoose window? AND a better animation. Maybe a melee animation when used in melee range?

If we could get kill command removed and replaced with flanking strike that’d be great imo.

I mean… It’s nice that you can use it when the enemy is not next to you, but using it in melee range just looks and feels bad. Also sucks that you are entirely reliant on pet getting ccd n stuff like that.
(in theory nice, in practice looks bad)

They did have a nice iteration of flanking strike on the bfa alpha where it changed KC to have additional damage when used within melee range and it changed the spell animation but it was on the level 15 tier and competed with Vipers and Alpha pred and got removed for terms.

Oh yea! I remember that! It was an enhancement for kill command, but was replaced for Alpha predator. I liked that one. Can we have it back instead of terms of engagement?

Yeah terms was nice but then they nerfed they changed it to be focus over time and nerfed the focus gained. Terms should really just be a basline passive.

If you’re having trouble doing damage to anything as a hunter then you have a problem.

Where did I say anything remotely like that?

Why else would you want to get back on that pesky mage?

:man_facepalming: I’m done with you…

That’s great because we are all done with your idea that Flanking strike has a place as a talent.

So once again. I’ve looked into that. It’s melee attack speed. Our white hits don’t refresh anything … So I don’t see how this really helps. So if you just wanna spread bleeds than why take butchery if carve does the same thing?

In raids, you have 1 target to bleed most of the time. And sure it helps if you’re doing mob bosses or M+ but other than that it’s a flavorless talent. It’s a crap talent in application.

You need to actually read what I’m saying. You’re nit picking one thing and setting up a straw man.

I’m sitting in here saying the talents in this spec tree are trash or just put in a spot that makes it have no value to pick , and you’re saying “Well this talent is good in this situation” literally not my argument. If you really think this class is fun, I would assume you think solitaire is the pinnacle of a good time.

Legion Survival was fun. It was a pain to maintain everything needed and was a tad clunky with what they needed to get good dps, but it was actually fun to play.

This version is a pain to do damage only because you just have to sit there and spam one button to do damage… Wanna serpent sting? Are you above 3 stacks of mongoose bite? Then no. Same goes for Bombs. Even tho they designed mongoose bite to lower the cooldown of said bombs and refresh serpent sting, You still have to avoid using any of those for 8 seconds at a time while you keep spamming mongoose bite and kill command.

More white hits = more enchant, trinket, corruption, essence procs = more dmg.

Carve is a frontal cone. Butchery is 360AoE

At least for me Butchery sims better than the other2 options.

You’re not supposed to let bomb get to 2 stacks if using the talent

Moknathal build was no fun at all to play, but the mongoose stack/coordinated assault/harpoon refreshing talent really gave the spec a nice flow.

I get that some talents seem boring to you, but claiming they are outright useless is simply not true

Nearly all of those are RPPM, actually, and that scales with haste, not with attack speed. In fact, the entire point of RPPM is to isolate proc rate from attack speed.

Now I’m sad :frowning: I hope you are happy with yourself

What I’d like to see is aspect of the cheetah cooldown and duration similar to sprint for rogue. I also want our heal cooldown to be similar 45 seconds of a rogue vial.

Give us a dps boost and take away 6 second pet rez and the class is perfect. Done.

Actually if I’m being greedy 2 charges of harpoon similar to 2 roll charges for WW monk.

The more I think about it the more that EVERY class in the game has a FAR superior skill than what we have. We get the water downed higher cooldown less dps version.

they need to give us a new talent and call it “Chromie” and when you select this talent all of your abilities will be a copy paste version of the patch 5.4 version of ranged survival hunter.

No they need to nerf vial, we really do not need more dps self healing in this game.

There are a lot of great suggestions in this thread and its hard to say anything without repeating what has already been said but at the same time maybe blizz seeing different people urge the same thing will reinforce what should be changed.

So from off the top of my head:

  1. Alpha Predator needs to be baseline. The spec plays to slow without it.

  2. Make flanking strike our focus builder or change the animation of Kill Command. Even as BM the animation of Kill Command looks a but funky a bit off (not even bringing up Seizure shot/rapid fire) but I can kind of overlook it. But pushing KC as a melee looks terrible. I am in hug range, in melee range and instead of swinging my sword or thrusting forward or hitting the enemy with my 2h, I am instead going to stop attacking, raise my hand and yell-again it looks weird enough when a BM hunter does it but it just looks terrible when a SV hunter uses Kill Command. Again make flanking strike the focus builder or change the animation of KC from SV hunters, you know maybe we actually hit the thing with our weapon…

  3. Latent poison and the trait that drops 3 cluster bombs when you use wildfire infusion are fun abilites, I would hate to see them go come SL. Therefore I recommend making those traits baseline into the spec or as a talent option.

  4. For all hunters… but could we please make aspect of cheetah a baseline 2 min cool down? Honestly I wish we could just get back the “good” old aspect of the cheetah but if that ability was to “op” then please lower the base CD on aspect of the cheetah.

  5. Lower cd on carve. BM and MM have no CD on multi shot, they just need focus and yet we have to wait an agonizing 5 seconds in between our carve. Maybe a 3 second cd instead…

  6. New ability for SV hunters , use the old name “Hunting Party” or change the name to I don’t know… “Tracker’s Resolve”. Anyway I am thinking either SV hunter’s should get a passive aura type affect that affects all party/raid members. Something like " Tracker’s Resolve": Increase the damage and critical chance of all bleeds and poisons by 5%. Or "increase attack speed of all party/raid member’s by X% etc… You get the idea I am thinking either a passive aura type affect that is always active or an aura affect that is triggered when the SV hunter has placed a bleed and or poison on the enemy. The point of this ability would be to reinforce the whole “Rugged, Master Tracker” style that I believe best fits the image of the SV hunter i.e… you are the leader of the hunt, the Guide, you inspire , guide your other party/raid members in the “hunt”.

  7. Could we increase the length of Serpent sting? Maybe 15 seconds or something.

Fury of the eagle, I am just saying whatever happened to it, would it have place in “modern” day SV hunters…?

I do love the SV spec and yes it is early alpha but I do hope SV hunters see a bit more as alpha, beta moves on.

I have a couple!

  1. A glyph for Serpent Sting. Could allow you to change it to a gun, throwing axes, javelin, ect.
  2. Change it so that Chakrams replaces Wildfire Bomb. Guerrilla Tactics now applies its affect to Chakrams and the wording of “explosion” is changed to “hit” to better fit. Not sure how it would all work out and would need some re-balancing. But, I’d like to play without Wildfire Bomb even though I love the ability with Wildfire Infusion.
