Survival is actually quite good in keys. But the community’s perception is what prevents it from being brought.

I love SV, so yeah community perception is a major issue. I cannot get into a good RBG group because the OP fotm specs get priority, rightfully so. I don’t blame them. But bumping up the DPS to at least be in the middle of pack on most sims would not hurt. I don’t even care about PVE. Its not a good PVE spec.
I rolled venthyr at the beginning of the expac hoping to play frost, but pretty quickly realized that fire was going to be the meta again, so I swapped to Night Fae. You gotta play the meta or you’re gonna struggle. Just how games are these days.
It’s always been interesting to me that one of the things their bad at is surviving…

I’ve played this game since open beta. I have, and will never, switch to chase the fotm specs. That is allowing someone else to dictate your enjoyment. I get the most I possibly can out of SV. In the RBGs I have played I have contributed greatly. But leaders want hpal, bdruid, etc. Because Blizzard is too damn lazy to balance specs. Its been this way since launch, why chase fotm when its only going to change.

Frost isn’t a spec, and dwarves cant be mages. Now pick up your hammer and lets get smashing things in melee again like a true dwarf.

SV would get more attention if it had a petless option through talents.
I get my enjoyment from the game by being able to participate in the content I like. I like mythic raiding, and I want to be able to do keys, so I will play fire. 
It just be that way sometimes.
Then it defeats the purpose of bonding with your pet… That’s what survivals iconic meant for, replica of Rexxar

Problem with survival is… it’s a melee spec on a historically ranged class and suffers from it.
Not enough people play it and it seems that affects their willingness to adjust it any. It’s the least played spec in the game by any available metric.

If anything, survival should had been given beast mastery the melee form
Having two pets and exotic? It’d be perfection
survival needs to be reverted back to ranged rather than a buff. even if it was breaking even with the other hunter specs no one wants them over the two ranged MM and BM specs.

It’ll never happen, that would be them admitting they wasted time on taking a liked a spec and making into the least played spec ever.
I just wish there was an option for a petless spec that had cooldowns/talents to call a temporary pets into battle. Like the Dire Beast talent.
Or an SV spec that was a cross between Marks and Surv.
You know, it’s always bothered me that Rexxar was basically a super BM hunter ever since WC3, and now he’s the survival hunter paragon. He has multiple pets, runs Stampede, and even dual wields axes. And none of the survival stuff can even be done without a 2 hander.
Just seems off to me.
