Wanted to say that the new hunter rework seems very interesting. (specially Surv)
Though i think it was primarily intended for PVE , like usual, it changed a whole playstyle for players who enjoy playing Survival in BG/RBGs.
2 Key Elements missed badly:
1- Castable Serpent sting. we need it back instead of just proccing on raptor strike. I know Blizzard is aiming to make Survival a more Melee engaging class in this rework but serpents Sting plays a BIG BIG role in PvP Specially in RBGs (spinning, multi dotting on the go , interrupting caps from far when base is getting multi hit and many more) . Surv hunters who BG/RBGs will definitely understand my point. we need more presence For survival in RBGs not less
2- One of the most underrated addition to survival hunter in the past was the extra yards melee range that came with “Lunge” Talent. not crucial in PVE i would say, helps alot in arenas, BUT DEAR GOD ITS A LIFE SAVER in BG/RBGs. if u play this talents properly it is the most damage mitigation talent u will ever have. i know not many Hunters compete in RBGs as survival ( maybe im the only one in this planet crazy enough
) but this talents and the increase of melee range is MANDATORY ! please blizzard listen.

Yep, the extra melee range was very nice for m+ too as it made it just a little bit easier to stay out of AOE.

Agreed. I pretty much kept Serpent Sting to the side for out of combat ranged pulls…just sadly no longer an option. Lunge is definitely the bigger loss of the two for me–I need to readjust.

To fix this i say bake in 8yrd range into all survival melee and bring back castable sting alongside the new talents in RBG we be able spread poison faster like a chain reaction.
bump i want serpentsting and ranged melee back
they’ll prob add serpent sting back at some point.
it changes nothing by having it be a spell; you can use it or forget it entirely with no impact
the range change while I think a polearm spec is worthy of it…i think blizz prob considered this when they made the range changes and decided to remove it anyway.
They should make arcane shot and steadyshot usable with melee weapons. Just let survival hunters mog a ranged slot for those abilities in the barbershop.

Why not have all Survival’s abilities usable with a ranged weapon?

You know I was actually checking out the DF prepatch for that two years ago?
If we’re talking about recent Dragginflight history, it was the dumbest thing I saw about SV, that:
- You CANNOT do a KILLSHOT with a ranged weapon as SV, but MM and BM can.
- You can do COORDINATED ASSAULT, swap back to a ranged weapon, and actually CANCEL the ability.
- You actually need a RANGED WEAPON to do Steadies, Arcs, Barrages, and I think Expshot back then too. The stock hand crossbow doesn’t do this for SV.
- Nothing synergized with Steadies and Arcs for SV like Strikes and Bites would.
I like to think it was done on purpose to tease and trap bad SVs so BM looks gudder. Because BM was always going to be the better ranged DPS that uses the best pets. LCB were nasty like that.
