I know it’s been discussed in the past and people haven’t always been for it, but I figured I’d ask if it’s something anyone would be interested in nowadays. As a hunter main I just feel rather limited by having… three DPS specs. It’d be nice if we could have just a little bit more role versatility.
I mean it’s literally in the name–“survival.” I think it’d be neat if it operated similarly to, say, disc priest or fistweaver–part damage-dealer (so we get to keep the class fantasy of hacking and slashing our way through our enemies), but part triage/herbal salves/cauterize/etc. The type of healing that you’d see a survivalist use if they were wounded in the wild.
Again, I know this isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but I figure there are some people out there who would enjoy it as much as I would.
nah, i’m good. it’s not like there’s a shortage of healing specs in the game and i’m curious what your idea is going to bring to the table that fistweaver monk isn’t already doing? having a cosmetic pet following you around? you could just get a wolf battle pet and use the size increasing biscuits on it or something.
As lore wise I can’t see healing as fitting with Hunter’s motif. However, I could see BM becoming a melee tank spec. I would see a rework to Kindred Spirits in a way that the pet becomes a damage sponge for the Hunter. All the damage that would go to would receive is instead transferred to your pet. Then instead of Barbed Shot and keeping up frenzy you would have Lacerate and maintain frenzy to heal your pet.
However, it would not be a playing choice that more than a small group would actually have interest to try, so it not going to happen.
survival should become the first survival spec in the game. every time you log in you won’t have any gear or weapons. you have to farm resources and make a fire and shelter then craft items before you can do anything. i mean it’s literally in the name.
actually blizzard is making a game all about this. they know SV is the best spec in the entire game and the primary hunter spec, which is why they’re devoting so many resources so you can play an entire immersive game all about SV
Survive doesn’t mean heal yourself. It means using “ Survive” In harsh condition. Even in Survival situation any open wound or cut is potentially life threatening if you don’t find doctor asap.
Tbh I’m not really concerned with other classes, I just like my class and would appreciate if it had a bit more role flexibility, that’s all! It’s up to Blizzard to make classes unique how they see fit. I just would personally enjoy it if my favorite class had more than one role option.
I’ve heard about the idea for BM tank–and this idea also interests me. It’s not something I’d probably play personally, but I understand the appeal behind it and get why others have expressed enthusiasm for it
Tbh I’m just expressing my opinion on something that I would enjoy. Not saying anybody else has to enjoy it, just saying why I would. You’re welcome to express your opinions too but I would certainly appreciate it being done in a less antagonistic/aggressive way. When I am polite I believe others should be equally polite back to me respectful behavior makes the world go round
Be careful this forum is very conservative and such ideas attract a lot of hate.
That being said, I wish every class was an hybrid. I made a sham back in BfA and in 2 weeks he was better geared than my hunter because finding groups as a healer is ridiculously easy and rewarding compared to dps.
I don’t think healing fits for hunters though. But I wouldn’t mind a glad stance/dark apotheosis type of aspect for survival that would allow tanking.
A Survival healing spec could be similar to Team Fortess 2’s medic who uses special guns and crossbows that fire bolts and darts to heal allies. In addition, Survival could throw healing potion bombs instead of wildfire bombs, command pets to use a better version of roar of sacrifice to protect specific allies, etc.
There were a few “innocent, polite opinions” about how melee SV would be fun for the poster before Legion was announced, and then they actually went ahead and did it, depriving thousands of the former ranged spec they enjoyed.
So don’t act surprised when you encounter hostility after suggesting yet another outrageous rework for the class.
