you take survival at 10…requires 2H weapon…
but you don’t get a 2h weapon attack until 13…
so you limp around with autoattack for 3 levels…

You have kill shot right away. And at 11 you get kill command. Pet is also part of the survival game, not just two-handers.
Even survival hunters can use ranged weapons and have access to some range weapon skills. I suggest you shoot for those levels.
It’s well designed, trust me!

survival hunter first skill at 10 should be…raptor strike.
arms warrior…mortal strike.
marksman hunter…aimed shot.

Survival is wonky at low levels, but at max it plays well, I am one.
Also, take Steady Shot off your bars once you get a melee weapon. Lol.
It’s like how every Shaman has Primal Strike, even the Elemental and Resto Shamans.
It’s a useless ability, only really used when you are like below level 10.

Eh, WoW isn’t “about” low level play so I hardly care lol.
It’s like complaining about Pokemon starter abilities at level 1.
What’s really irrational is as a Hunter you decide at level 10 that instead of staying in the safety of range you would rather be in in your enemy’s face. You also decide that it’s a great distance to throw explosives from.
I do think it would make more sense for it to be baseline. Especially with mongoose bite also being a talent that just replaces it a few levels later. I was just refuting what you said about only having auto attack until level 13.
It is very funny that this is the playstyle they’ve attached to a spec called “Survival”.
