Survival Hunter

@Iskierkaa Yeah that’s interesting Did you work on it in Torgast or Mythic dungeons a good amount?

I’m not mad about survival hunter, I’m just completely baffled as to why a spec that has like 10% of the players is the focus of 75% of the threads on the hunter forum.

Like the druid forums aren’t just wall-to-wall discussion on the validity of ferals, you know? You can view a lot of interesting discussion on a variety of topics in the priest forums without thread after thread demanding people explain why they’re not playing shadow.

I’m not mad or pissed about survival, I’ve just reached saturation point.

To save you hours of time from reading everything, the controversy is that it’s still melee. However RSV is winning, and post-Leg SV has become more and more ranged capable. As of now, it’s practically a grenadier/houndmaster spec that carries around a stat stick.

It’s going to be interesting to see how much win RSV will get in 10.0.

It’s just a few toxic trolls. Their strategy is to derail Survival every chance they get in order to bring back a spec in a video game from 6 years ago that they can’t play anymore.

Don’t let them bother you. Survival will continue being melee.

I’m currently liking the spec a lot really enjoying jumping in and slashing things up causing explosions and slowing and running down an enemy or mob to burst them down or just splat against a wall as you have very weak sustain even in even fights.

I feel like it should become more of a hybrid spec that uses a melee weapon bombs and traps cause before it just felt like beastmaster without the exotic pets in WoD the changes at least to me in Legion made Survival stand out more though people hated it.

I’m of the thought that the class might feel better if Aspect of the Eagle was passive but made attacks 25yrds instead of 40yrds the same as other hunter-spec spell range of 40yrds. And if they made this change it might bridge the gap on why is disliked.

How cool would it be if Moongoose bite and Raptor strike could be a midrange Kamehameha/energy blasts of nature damage from your blade? And besides losing auto attacks at range maybe give survival hunters a passive or a short cooldown that grants auto attacks leech or grants Moongoose Bite and Raptor strike leech on melee range use of their abilities so the hunter will want to be in melee unless it’s too dangerous.

I enjoy survival because it feels like a “ranger” and it’s just a blast to play. Not sure why people get mad we have a spec that fulfills the more old school ranger feel.

I’d play survival more if it allowed exotic pets. It’s actually a really fun spec. 10.0 talent Blizz?

200 or so post thread on the front page about the ‘why so mad’ thing. Mostly devolved into people insulting and talking at each other rather then to each other… Not looking to hop into that yet again.

Answer today is the same it was half a decade, and a few thousand forum threads, ago.

I will say that I find the idea of throwing grenades inside melee range as an odd design choice. Though I do actually like the wildfire button, related talents, and set bonuses. Just seems a wierd thing to toss at your own feet.

Why not read some of the copious discussion about the subject?

The primary controversy is that it used to be a popular ranged spec and it was abruptly reworked into a niche melee spec, and that rework evidently had immense costs both in terms of development time for all Hunter specs as well as the direction (or lack thereof) of Survival itself.

I went back in time and granted your wish as of BfA. Mwahahahah! Monkey Paw!

This is one thing about hunter in general that makes me sad. I go through phases with my pets, and right now I’m in love with core hounds. Sadly, I can only use them as BM. ARG!

people brought this up in bfa beta i think and that’s what caused them to make it a weird cone effect when it hits a target lol…

i still think it’d be much better if it was “wildfire shot” and just used the the little crossbow instead.

So like, literally anything you have ever posted?

Anyways, people are mad they are “forced” to play MM when its the same thing they think they lost 6 years ago. When it comes down to it, there’s gonna be some crybaby’s here struggling to adapt in a game that’s never the same after a single patch much less 3 expansions later. Its honestly hilarious because these people are old enough to function as adults in society but choose to complain about a play style nobody cared about till a interesting rework came in.

Wow, insulting.

To the relevant points, for what it’s worth. RSV was mobile, tab targeting, jump spinning, kiting, run and gun. It had less in common with modern MM then Arms has with Fury or Sub with Assanation.

Lots of people liked it and cared.

Personally, I miss it, but I still find ways to enjoy the game.

This is the biggest take away.

I liked it too but im not gonna pretend it wasnt a MM clone. There is a reason the spec was remodeled. And no its not insulting lol. Its the truth. Its annoying people cant adapt or move on. Shes never gonna call you back let it go finally.

At this point, if they removed MSV, I would expect to see it reworked in the form of an tinker class down the road. I’m very interested to see if the new talent trees will somehow incorporate the old spec or if they do nothing about it.

We already have a topic on this Why are so many people mad about Survival Hunter... its the best performing spec in the game right now

There is no need to dredge up same responses from same grumpy hunters.

there no reason to remove it but a 4th spec would make sense

LOL when I first started reading the saturation of RSV posts this was the first thing I thought of.
