I’ve been playing a Nightborne hunter for a while now. I did enjoy beast mastery but I feel I’m just too vulnerable if my pets aren’t %100 percent aggroing on the enemy at all times. I’m thinking of switching to survival so I can, we’ll survive. I need to know if you need to constantly switch between your bow abs melee weapon, having one item permanently take up a bag slot, or if your character can equip both at a time, switching between melee abs range more smoothly. I did notice that there are range talents in survival
You don’t use a ranged weapon as SV at all. It’s a melee spec.
Oh okay. So is the spec good? I won’t be too dependent on the pet and (mind you I will still use one, I love animals). I just don’t want to keep dying just cause my pet loses aggro lol
Survival is probably the best hunter spec at the moment.

And whenever you misdirect it will auto target your pet, will make holding aggro easy.

3 months transformation and the guy was skinny and got really muscular in short period everybody accuse the guy of using steroid
this is what happened to Survival , they went horrible - to giga good in 1 patch

dps wise it is the best. but best. umm no. not even close. not even in the same universe let alone galaxy let alone solar system let alone planet. melee survival lol two words that should never be in the same sentence.

yea im still butthurt over them changing it. it was my spec and it was ripped from my life and others lives with no choice 
I’m maining one this tier, specifically because it was melee and I wanted to get back to a melee class after spending some time as a caster.
A lot of the hunter community gets frosty because of how Survival came to be, and I don’t know that you’re ever going to get people to change their minds about that. But so long as you don’t base your own enjoyment on what others’ expectations are of the spec, you’ll find it to be a fast-paced spec that, with Night Fae/Wild Spirits, the bomb legendary and especially once you get a tier set, it has one of the best AoE damage profiles in the game, if not THE best.
Utility/survivability aren’t fantastic but aren’t terrible, either. Still have a lot of damage tied to pets due to focus generation mechanics. But I find it fun, and I can be an asset to my team more so than a lot of other options.
its very fun to play. With the butchery talent its like fury warrior with a pet.
surv is just as squishy as the other hunter specs, sorry to say.

My favorite thing about survival hunters is that no matter what the question is, the answer is always, “damage good! spec fun!”
except they are melee and you will die faster because you don’t suddenly use plate or gain any extra mitigation that would make so much of a difference

Yeah BM is the easiest spec in game to survive on in world content. If you swap to surv you will die more just because you’re melee
Stack mastery vers, and get any leech pieces you can and youll be a replenishing god. Granted bm can have 15% leech with that one talent on the final row but cmon man, replenishing! Pick necrolord marileth or emeni for even betterer replenishing via fleshcraft.
So Survival hunter is doable and really good? Dps seems really high and I do have a pet helping out. Maybe I should get into alchemy to help. Despite the cons, I do want to try out survival. Any advice on playing it well aside from what’s already been said?
in legion survival use to have a passive hp that was more than marks and bm.
wonder why they stopped that?
