Survival Dual Wield

I know I’m not alone on this one, and people have been wanting it back for years: Survival Hunter dual wielding. Although the burst impact of Mongoose bite would be weaker, it’s easy to fix that by adding either a second hit from the offhand, or a potent stacking bleed effect to the attack. Keep in mind that melee attacks do speed up the cooldown of Wildfire Bomb, so it’s makes up for that lost burst damage.

Lots of Hunters just love the effect of combat style and aesthetic of dual wielding, so there’s really no reason to sleep on it anymore. Please bring dual wielding.

Yeah, it would be nice, I understand why they wanted polearms, less gear competition that way, but man… Dual wielding is just cooler, plain and simple.

Indeed! Thankfully most loot is acquired through a personal or grinding based looting system, rather than competing for it now. So it wouldn’t impact things too much and like you said, it’s just cooler. :+1:t4:

If we’re going to keep survival, it needs to be dual wield.

I say that as a complete authority on all things huntery.

Needs!

100%!

  • Ranger Drizzt dual wielding scimitars
  • Prince Legolas dual wielding hunting knives
  • Aragorn wielded a sword often in one hand
  • Geralt wielded 2 swords, albeit one at a time
  • Vanilla WoW Hunters dual wielded

So many famous ranger-swordsmen archetypes are out there that leaving survival with just polearms/staves feels bad man.

To be fair, Drizzt dual wields primarily because he’s a drow. Ranger dual-wield focus came after Drizzt’s boom in popularity.

hows about we give them real stealth and poisons and call them rogue.

AND LET THE BOMBS BE OPTIONAL!
I wanna be a nature warrior. not a bomb and trap fiend.

Can we also get throwing weapons for hunters? I want to be a crazed, mad lumberjack hurling axes.

Good answer lol. Definitely necessary in books too :+1:t4:

Well said! Absolutely. So many of the best Rangers of all time had this, and a new set of swords just came out at the 20th Anniversary that absolutely demand Hunters get their hands on.

I actually think stealth should be removed from most specs of Hunter an made a Survival exclusive ability. They should downgrade it the original Night Elf Shadowmeld in its mechanics and bring the spec back to its roots as being the traps and gadget spec with some melee.

It would be nice to have a glyph that could change the bombs into something magical. Same goes with traps.

Absolutely great idea! They should be available mostly to Beast Masters, but that would be fantastic as a mid range attack.

Agreed, let us dual wield like Frost DKs!

Throwing Hatchets are always cool.
Probably not popular, but I would love to get rid of the pet as a talent.

I dislike how Survival is about combo with your pet than a naturalist warrior/guerrilla fighter.

Just give them Lone Wolf, you know?

Not only should Survival get dual wield but the other hunter specs should be able to dual wield pistols and 1h crossbows.

Also, they should add pistols and 1h crossbows.

They make a spec supposedly based around Rexxar, who is known for using dual axes.

-is a 2h spec.

Facepalm.

Imagine if DHs had to use staves, same energy.

I 100% agree. Survival is supposed to be the tactician’s spec which an emphasis on rapid damage, traps, explosives, poisons, utility, and a moderate melee skills, not an alternate Beastmaster spec. It’s meant to ambush people and support the team with cc and AoE damage. It’s something more akin to Rambo, but I’d like to be an Elven Rambo with two swords.

That’s an excellent idea. They could exchange a bit of range for more rapid firepower.

And the funniest part is that Rexxar is a Beastmaster lol. He’s actually THE Beastmaster, which is pretty much what they did to Survival. It’s basically a second Beastmaster spec. They clearly didn’t do their homework.

If I had it my way, I’d let Survival keep the grenades, but I’d make Beastmaster the melee spec with two axes or fist weapons, and thrown weapons. Basically a mix of Rexxar, Wolverine, and Berserker Trolls from Warcraft II.

Survival is all about traps and ambushing people. It relies on tactics more than bruit force in melee or ranged combat. It should also have some healing abilities.

Not gonna lie… we get Hunter Dualwielding… I’m equipping these:

Not really, no.

I mean, sure, we had the option, but most didn’t.

It would just be another gear slot to worry about.

Ah yes, also famously known for throwing bombs…

Survival spec has no unique identity, which giving them dual wield does not help solve (ironic considering that was the excuse used for destroying the original version of it) and it should never have been changed in the first place. :triumph:

Hmm.
Didnt Rexxar dual weild axes as a hunter companion?

As a hunter main for ages, and not a big fan of the Surv fantasy as it is–I can still agree this should absolutely be a thing. Hunters were able to dw for many years (didn’t really serve ANY purporse at all other than stat sticks, cuz if you were in melee range you were failing or were forced by mechanics), but the entire spec is supposed to be based around Rexxar…a dual-wielding Hunter in lore and in game.
