I know I’m not alone on this one, and people have been wanting it back for years: Survival Hunter dual wielding. Although the burst impact of Mongoose bite would be weaker, it’s easy to fix that by adding either a second hit from the offhand, or a potent stacking bleed effect to the attack. Keep in mind that melee attacks do speed up the cooldown of Wildfire Bomb, so it’s makes up for that lost burst damage.
Lots of Hunters just love the effect of combat style and aesthetic of dual wielding, so there’s really no reason to sleep on it anymore. Please bring dual wielding.
Yeah, it would be nice, I understand why they wanted polearms, less gear competition that way, but man… Dual wielding is just cooler, plain and simple.
Indeed! Thankfully most loot is acquired through a personal or grinding based looting system, rather than competing for it now. So it wouldn’t impact things too much and like you said, it’s just cooler.
Good answer lol. Definitely necessary in books too
Well said! Absolutely. So many of the best Rangers of all time had this, and a new set of swords just came out at the 20th Anniversary that absolutely demand Hunters get their hands on.
I actually think stealth should be removed from most specs of Hunter an made a Survival exclusive ability. They should downgrade it the original Night Elf Shadowmeld in its mechanics and bring the spec back to its roots as being the traps and gadget spec with some melee.
It would be nice to have a glyph that could change the bombs into something magical. Same goes with traps.
Absolutely great idea! They should be available mostly to Beast Masters, but that would be fantastic as a mid range attack.
I 100% agree. Survival is supposed to be the tactician’s spec which an emphasis on rapid damage, traps, explosives, poisons, utility, and a moderate melee skills, not an alternate Beastmaster spec. It’s meant to ambush people and support the team with cc and AoE damage. It’s something more akin to Rambo, but I’d like to be an Elven Rambo with two swords.
That’s an excellent idea. They could exchange a bit of range for more rapid firepower.
And the funniest part is that Rexxar is a Beastmaster lol. He’s actually THE Beastmaster, which is pretty much what they did to Survival. It’s basically a second Beastmaster spec. They clearly didn’t do their homework.
If I had it my way, I’d let Survival keep the grenades, but I’d make Beastmaster the melee spec with two axes or fist weapons, and thrown weapons. Basically a mix of Rexxar, Wolverine, and Berserker Trolls from Warcraft II.
Survival is all about traps and ambushing people. It relies on tactics more than bruit force in melee or ranged combat. It should also have some healing abilities.
It would just be another gear slot to worry about.
Ah yes, also famously known for throwing bombs…
Survival spec has no unique identity, which giving them dual wield does not help solve (ironic considering that was the excuse used for destroying the original version of it) and it should never have been changed in the first place.
As a hunter main for ages, and not a big fan of the Surv fantasy as it is–I can still agree this should absolutely be a thing. Hunters were able to dw for many years (didn’t really serve ANY purporse at all other than stat sticks, cuz if you were in melee range you were failing or were forced by mechanics), but the entire spec is supposed to be based around Rexxar…a dual-wielding Hunter in lore and in game.
