Specing into Surveying as a miner was a complete waste of knowledge investment and I demand a respec, or the drop tables need adjustment to practically support this investment. It seemed like a great idea until it was put to practice. Then it was completely impractical.
Is sad that you either need to do 2 months of research, or find out the hard way because little information is given to you in game. And so many impractical systems are fed to use from what is theoretically a AAA developer with more resources dev teams of less than 10 people that manage to do better.
The more I play this game, the more that the title of AAA developer needs ripped off like waxing your hair from the nether regions.

Agree this spec needs to be looked at. I have mined many dozen rich nodes and not received a single diamond with maxed Surveying. Basically useless waste of 30 points which is like 3 weeks worth of knowledge.

It give you 60 total perception by maxing out the tree. Perception is the best stat for a miner, so what are you guys talking about.

Im with you, its possibly one of th best trees to max, it gives you so much more of the rare ore which sells for insane amounts.
If you actually think surveying is bad you are in fact potato. The only bad tree i would say would be. industrialization and primal because i dont care about frost and air i only want order earth and fire.
Before resorting to insults perhaps you should try reading. The 30 point node is supposed to give a chance on mining rich nodes to get a diamond. It doesn’t say “small chance” like many other nodes. It says “a chance.”
After mining close to 100 rich nodes and not seeing a single diamond, this is the part that seems bugged. You guys talking about how the stats you get while filling the spec to that node is beside the point.
If the drop rate is intended to be less than 1 in 100 they should change the tooltip to say “a VERY small chance” like all the other tooltips for nodes with tiny chances so as to not mislead people into spending 30 points to mine diamonds.

Ok counter point, whats your perception at?
Are you using rare tools that are stated for perception? are they max rank? Are you using a perception potion? are you maxed at mining that particular rich vein?
Because if you max draconium and max surveying along witht having the proper tools, i highly doubt you will mine 100 rich draconium and get no diamonds.
OP said nothing about the diamonds in his post, which is what im addressing, and OP is saying its worthless which is far FAR from being worthless.
The primal node gives perception to all nodes though. Its the best sub on the tab.
Eh, sure it gives +30 perceptions, but as an engineer currently i would rather mine them for rousing earth or fire more so, because i can use them to make ammo to sell.

If you’re only after earths and fires then ok. But wasn’t OP just after more ore?
Perception does dont give more ore, finesse does.
In terms of finding rare items yes preception does.

Even still Surveying is better. Maxing out primal, assuming you have the points needed to spec into that sub spec, only gives you a +30 perception for 35 points
For 30 points into survey you get +90

The OP is apparently already deep into surveying. The next best place to find perception is primal.
Yeah thats fair, if the OP does not already have things like perception picks, enchanted and is using the perception potions i would agree.
